Canapalooza 2026 - Barrel to Bottle Samples Your New Faves

Spirits buyer Jeff only appears on the podcast twice a year and since it’s not winter, it means it’s time for Canapalooza. Every year, we sample hundreds of canned beverages from new brands and new innovations from existing brands. This week on Barrel to Bottle we’re trying some of the highlights from Canapalooza that you can look forward to this spring and summer.

00:00 Introduction It's too early in the year for a Buyers Pick episode. What are you doing here? I was just walking by, and you stuffed a bag over my head. Woke up in here. Okay. How many samples are we doing today? Ten. Ten. Okay. I can live. That's fine. Is this recording already? Yes. Binny's Podcast. When you're here, you're family. Unlimited breadsticks and salad. You're listening to Barrel to Bottle, The Binny's Podcast, back in your feed with something canned. A Palooza. A Palooza. I'm Greg, I do communications at Binny's. I'm Jim, also communications. Roger, beer. How did you not get out of this one? He's a can, he's a can guy. If we have anything canned, Roger's here for it. Yeah, that's true. Canned wines. I'm always interested in these, because I ask the hard questions. Okay. I want to know what they're made out of. Right, exactly. He asks the hard questions about hard tea. We have spirits buyer Jeff in the room. Hello. Jeff subjected us to Canapaluza. It's become an annual tradition here. Just the peripheral of our Canapaluza. Right around in the golf cart. Yeah. So what he has here is the winners of the, how many cans do we have this year? Total, about the same as last year, another 130 or so. 130 or so different. I tasted every single one. I just want you to know that. I did not, but I tasted most of them. That's a combination of new brands and then existing brands with new flavors or new, I don't know, offshoots, whatever, right? Like the first one we have. Like the first one. So this is the Perry's stage of the Canapaluza? You could say that. Everybody is always trying to crystal ball it, right? So they're just trying to figure out what the next hot thing is going to be. We joked that for the last few years, it seems like it's been the summer of tea. That's been true and teas did very well, and it's moved into lemonades or half and halves. 2:03 Mom Water Peach Tea The first one we're tasting here is a tea from Mom Water, which was new for them. They've just been waters before, uncarbonated waters, and this is uncarbonated tea. Oh, wait, they just introduced tea as a line extension? Correct. Okay. And we have the peach expression. Peach, it tastes peachy. Is there a mom name on every can? Yes. Katie. Katie is the one that we have here. We are pouring, we are passing and pouring the first sample, which is Katie, peach tea. So, I am a big fan of the ingredients list here. Water, vodka, black tea extract, natural peach flavor, citric acid. There is no artificial flavors, no artificial sweeteners, and no natural sweeteners, which apparently a lot of other people are starting to feel like I do where I do not want to see stevia in these things. No. The Rogerification of the world. This went through this phase where they are just sneaking stevia in everything. You know the packet of instant oatmeal with the little dehydrated peaches? Yeah. That is 100 percent what this smells like. It's not bad though. Yeah. I mean, this is more for a tea purist and it doesn't have that sweetness, which a lot of people do like. I like this. Actually, I like this too. Yeah. This is fine. It's like a lightly brewed sun tea. It's not too heavy on the tea, but it's got a little tannic smack. I just can't believe there's alcohol in it. There's no discernible alcohol in this liquid. Maybe it's because it's no carbonation, and so it's just like messing with my brain a little bit. Like I expect carbon like something out of a can. What's the percentage? I mean, there's nothing for alcohol to hide behind, except for tea. 4.5. Yeah, okay. 4.5 in a 12 ounce can. It fits in your skinny can, Cousy. Yep. The no carbonation can be off-putting to people if they're not expecting it, especially like the original mom waters. Their goal was like the hotel water where you come in and there's cucumbers sitting in. Melons and cucumbers. Yeah, which is a light taste. It's just like water adjacent. Little more flavor in these. Yeah. I think it's just psychological, but there's something like with this where I think you feel more comfortable if it's in ice. If you just drink it without any ice in it, it seems weird like something that went flat. But if you were served it over ice, you'd be like, oh, it's a glass of iced tea. And just by itself, it's like, this is kind of weird. People smashing the can up on the face when they drink this stuff? They go down quick. Okay, Jeff is definitely hammering the cans. I mean, I'm guessing these are like pool drinks. Yeah, for sure. People sitting around the pool. Mom Water is a line extension. Is that here yet? Just got here. And the same price? Yes. Eight packs? Yes. $19.99, usually on sale. Yes. Four packs, $9.99, usually on sale. Nice. Yeah. And there are individual four packs, but we'll be focusing on the variety packs. Okay. Okay, that's Mom Water Peach. Well, I don't know, Jim's like, he got them all in the cooler, so it's kind of blind tasting here. 5:00 Blueberry Lemonade Comparison What are we doing next? I'm pulling them out. Surfside or Good Boy, maybe? Who's a good boy? Who's a good boy? You're a good boy. Is that the John Daly brand? It is. Yes and no. There is a John Daly part of Good Boy, but Good Boy is the parent. Okay. What a stupid sentence. Is Hooters involved? Surfside, blueberry lemonade, I'm sorry, blueberry vodka lemonade. Blueberry lemonade vodka, come on. Blueberry lemonade vodka. Blueberry lemonade and vodka? It's Pig Bear Man. Blueberry lemonade plus vodka. Got it. Do you think we're going to see more no carb or do you think we'll see some lightly carb? I think we're heading toward more lightly. Because this is lightly carb, right? Is it? It seems like it. No, am I wrong? People go back to the White Claw days where it's the malt beverage and they're highly carbonated. That just isn't a great feeling after a little bit. After four or five of them. After you drink like 10 of them? I guess that's the problem if you need to drink a million. Usually when I finish a LaCroix or let's be honest, the Juul Oskow brand, non-branded generic LaCroix, I'm never like, man, I need another one of those right now. Yeah. But if it was a carbonated beer. I've gone back for a second a couple of times. Okay. This tastes like blueberry lemonade. It's not sticky sweet, which makes me happy. It's probably zero sugar, right? They're using one of Roger's. Yeah. Artificially sweetened. It does not say with what. It's tangy. It gets you right here in the salivary glands. Yeah. Yeah. A lot of what showed well at Canapaluza was innovations from previously successful brands. They're taking their vodka lemonade and making it raspberry vodka lemonade. Just adding new berries. New berries. New flavors. This is the Bomb Pop minus the red. Yeah. It's the white and blue. You're right. It is the white and blue. Yeah. That red is kind of important though. Yeah. I kind of like this. Drop a little grenadine in there. How much is this one? The berry lemonade, I think, is going to be inserted into a variety pack. So Surf Cider, the lemonade variety packs. Is this also 4.5% alcohol? 16.99 on sale right now, usually 18.99. Yep. Wow. See people drinking quite a few of these. This is the next one, which is also. As is the next one, which is what? This is Good Boy Vodka Blueberry Lemonade. Jeff thought we should maybe compare the blueberry lemonade's science. This is Good Boy Blueberry Lemonade, Good Boy, which has a dog donation component. Just like Binny's Beverage Depot. We like dogs. It's state side vodka, but the brand is Surfside. It's kind of confusing. State side is, they've got vodka sodas, they've been much more successful on the Surfside line, which last year, the teas really, or a year and a half ago now. Okay. I posit to you that the Surfside is a more classy refined take on this blueberry lemonade vodka and I would posit to you that Good Boy is in the more extreme flavor blasted in your face. Country time. It's still not, yeah, it's country time-ish. Yeah, it has that- Kool-Aid-ish. Much more of that tart sweetness that sticks to the top of your palate. You would probably almost not be able to taste the Surfside if you had this first. Yeah, I think you're right. Yeah. Which, I mean, somebody is going to like this. There's also, this is kind of bomb pop with the raspberry or with the red. Sorry, the red. Okay. Yeah, this has got kind of that like slurpy, 7-eleven-y, reminds me of those vibes. I feel like it has electrolytes. Like it could even be salty. We'll get there, don't worry. We'll get there. Yeah, we got it. All right, as Jim pulls out the next one, I want to double down on what Jeff was saying. I was talking to Roger about this earlier, because he missed the big Cannibalusa. Way to only have to deal with the hits, Roger. But much like this recent blind tasting that we did of light loggers, like macro light loggers, I think we kind of found that the big guys who've been making huge amounts of light lager for decades are the ones who've refined it, and the crafty startups are the ones who need to refine their approach a little bit more. I think kind of the same thing here. It's like you're saying, you're really big brands that are making the most palatable canned cocktails. Yeah. I think that they've got the ability to experiment, and they can throw out a new flavor, and if it takes off in a four-pack, they'll try to get into a variety pack or vice versa. Yeah. They just- Oh, yeah. They have the variety pack format, which is probably the top song skew for all of these, right? Where they can try out new flavors and stuff. Yes. Yeah. Well, from the craft side of things, when we went through the seltzer mania and the little craft guys were all like, should we get in this space? That was challenging because they were all trying to brew a seltzer base, and now that vodka-based things have really taken off and are seen as the premium take on things, that's so much easier to try and sample, because you don't have all those horrible fermentation, off-notes and weirdness. You're right. We were trying some of these seltzers, people brewed and they'd just be like, sulfury and disgusting, and if it's a rectified thing where you're just adding vodka, you get to skip all that messiness. Okay. 10:55 Good Boy Prickly Pear We've passed around the next sample, and I would like to point out that the label says, Good Boy Prickly Pear, so. That's a typo. Typo. Sounds right to me. This is a pretty important L. Good Boy Prickly Pear. Prickly Pear. I think if you mix this with the blueberry, you really get that bomb pop. That is, it's like melon. Very candy-like. Yeah. Watermelon Jolly Rancher. Watermelon Jolly Rancher. You can't talk anymore. Watermelon Jolly Rancher. Holy Watermelon Jolly Rancher, except stouted down a tiny bit. Sour Watermelon Jolly Rancher. I like that more than the word Pricky Pear. I'd rather say watermelon, except, I don't know. Rach, what does a little Prickly Pear taste like? I haven't had one in a while. They don't have a huge amount of flavor. They have kind of like a watermelon berry note. So, it's kind of watermelon-y. What does that taste like? They look cooler than they taste. They're kind of like- It's like dragon fruit. Never had a Prickly Pear, but I would say that they pretty much nailed it. They also have kind of like a little bit of a vegetal character and they're also not sweet at all. So, a lot of times if you're tasting something like a high-end Prickly Pear margarita, that was popular for a while, the bartender is probably making a simple syrup out of Prickly Pears, so they're putting a bunch of sugar in it. So, then it tastes better. It's not, you lose the vegetal. There's something about the color that your mind thinks it should be sweet and it's not really. It's like cranberries. Nobody's probably had a unsweetened cranberry. Good Boy Vodka Blueberry and Good Boy Vodka Prickly Pear. So, these are samples that we tasted that we don't know exactly when this is going to arrive, but watch for it in the future. 12:59 Super Lyte Sports Drinks Introducing a new segment of Craft Cocktail, which is mind-boggling to me. It's mind-boggling. I mean, people have been putting vodka and Gatorade together. Why did it take them so long to give us this? Exactly, exactly. That's one of the first things I ever drank, was vodka and Gatorade. It's gotta be one of the easiest flavors to make. Because they have to dodge the pitfall of the whole, you can't make any claims. I'm worried about that with this, because it's like right on the edge. The brand here is Super Lyte, L-Y-T-E. The flavor is Fruit Punch Vodka-Ade. I mean, it looks like Gatorade. It says Lyte and Ade on it. Yeah, there's going to be a confluence this year. There's three of these that came out, very similar names, Spiked Ade, Vodka-Ade, and Super Lyte Vodka-Ade. We'll see in court. We'll see who comes out on top. But this is the one that we liked the most, Super Lyte. If I remember correctly, this was the more subtle compared to the other one we did a side-by-side on. I like the branding. The Grateful Dead logo. Words in the background. Oh yeah, those words. Man, this just delivers what it promises. Yeah. It tastes like a lighter Gatorade, a lighter sports beverage. It's not as gloppy as some of these other ones, like syrupy. It's something that if you're buying a variety pack, you're probably going to sit and have more than one. It goes better like that. Roger, are there ingredients listed on there? There are. This absolutely tastes like fruit punch flavor, also known as red. It tastes red. Well, you should try orange. Oh man, I'm all into orange. Blue. Well, I'll tell you what, I think everything you guys says correct. It's a very Gatorade-esque. I don't dislike it. It's definitely built with all sorts of stuff. The Gatorade zeros and whatever, G1, whatever, that stuff is really popular right now. There's a ton of that because my kids like Gatorade and there's a ton of those things in stores. Also, now there's a lot less sugar Gatorade. That's good. There are people are going for it if they're just drinking sports drinks. What's in there, Red? I will say this one, it says it has sucralose, but it's not overly sweet. The last things we just drank, I was like, I definitely wanted some ice. This I could see drinking out of the can. Yeah, this also has the orange has sucralose also. Sucralose. Artificially sweet and certified color added. I mean, if you like Gatorade, this is really good. Yeah. It's also much better than the, what's their name? Our good friends at New Belgium tried to make that their Gatorade thing. I remember that. Well, isn't there the- Lightstrike? Lightstrike, yeah. Lightstrike? That was malt-based, right? First of all, what a terrible name for a beverage. Second of all, they're leaning into sports drink insignia. Okay. Okay, we have the orange one now. Is this just orange? Orange. Yeah. The blue one is called Blue Chill, so that's definitely a Gatorade name. Because it's arctic? I think arctic something is one of the blue ones. So this is, both of these are 4.5, yet they're called Super Lyte. This is Super, just part of the branding. Nailed it. This is pretty good. It's Pedialyte. It's Pedialyte. No. That's the L-Y-T-E. That sounds so salty. You know, I don't have opinions about it. I got one of those at Riot Fest once. There's like handing them out and I spit it out. I'm like, I'm drinking seawater. Like this can't be good for you to swallow this. It's electrolytes. It's good for you. Sea salt is on the ingredient list there. So, yep. This has electrolytes. Orange. Orange. Nailed it. I should say this is from the Surfside company as well, or Stateside. Stateside who makes Surfside, who makes Super Lyte. Man, this would be good in those. You know how people are slushy and stuff these days? It's almost too light. Like, it could be amped up if it's going to get watered down with ice. Pebble ice. You have the thing. You had no water, baby. Oh, make a slushy out of this. Oh, that'd be good. That'd be really good. Does that end the sports, the alcoholic sports drink segment of this? It does. What's the format like in those? Can I buy a 8-pack of just fruit punch or do I have to buy a variety pack of Super Lyte? Go to hell. Super Lyte, we only have the variety pack. It's $16.99 on sale right now. It's an 8-pack. What are the other flavors? Blue Chill and Lemon Lime. Perfect. Those are perfect flavors. They followed Gatorade's top sellers. I'm calling the next line extension purple. Give me purple and then that weird frosty one that's... The white. Milky. Yeah. Purple. It's not. It doesn't taste like anything distinctive at all. You're thinking of the weird Star Wars thing. You know what is a big seller in the Gatorade is the Cucumber one. People love that one. Really? The Cucumber Gatorade. I've never even seen the Cucumber Gatorade. Really? Oh yeah, people love that one. Is it like the zero one? No, it's regular Gatorade. Some kids are Gatorade experts. That might be good with a Tahin Rimmer. Oh yeah. Eight-pack variety, they're leaning into that. Most people are realistic in that we don't have shell space to carry all of their four-packs and their eight-packs. Yeah. I still am baffled by, at least with those, I like both of them, but with seltzers, the way variety packs took over, I was talking to a buddy where he has a fridge in his garage, and it's like the island of misfit seltzers in the summer. It's like all the flavors that no one wants. They brought over a variety pack and they're like, I don't want to drink that one, and it's just becomes all these rejected flavors. Give it to Timmy. He'll drink anything. Somebody needs to knuckle down and just take them to the dome. I mean, eventually the desperation sets in. Yeah. It boggles my mind that that's the main way people buy a lot of this stuff is in variety pack, which is like, maybe I won't like one of them. It exposes intent, the intent of the consumer, the mindset of the consumer. I want to try some new stuff. Yeah. And it's easy, it's comfortable. You know, trial to start, sure, but like there's a lot of repeat purchasing here. So it's, you know, I'm going to- And having variety. Exactly, and not have the same thing. Not have the same thing. What's interesting is like on the full flavor cocktails, which I thought would never work as variety packs because they're so different. You're right. Yeah. But- Give me the Negroni, but I don't need their old fashion. It's not the same. Exactly. But some brands are doing all right with that. Tip Top would be the one that comes to mind. Tip Top's awesome. I'm sure we're going to see tons of the like mix, do your own mixing of the flavors on like social and stuff. Like people making their own like Taco Bell combo kind of thing. Like, well, you got to mix this one with this one. 20:04 Founders Water Hazard All right, we got Founders. This is Founders Brewing Water Hazard. The Water Hazard is a classic golf course cocktail with Gatorade, Sprite, Lemonade, and something else. It says blue cocktail. Yeah, duh. You remember this one? Roger, have you seen this? Yes, I've had it, and it's going to probably shock you, especially when you see the color. I really like this. The most eye-catching beverage that we had that day. It is crystalline blue. It looks exactly like window cleaner. Yeah, it looks like windshield washer fluid. Automotive windshield washer fluid. It has certified color in it. I don't remember it being carbonated, but it is. Well, light carbonation. Yeah. Since I obviously deal with founders a lot, they gave us some of this to try even though it's Jeff's purview. I really like this. Yeah. It's the blue part of your bomb pop, man. I also like that it's lightly carbed. I think I would like most of these if they had a little carb instead of... I totally get it. You brought up a great point. I drink tons of LaCroix and I'll drink one and then immediately want another one, but I often... You drink a flat LaCroix and it's disgusting. You're just water. Can you put these, like the mom water, can you put it in that little soda making machine, make your own carbonated mom water? Asking the hard questions. This reminds me of... The one brand they imply you can do that with everything, the one maker, not SodaStream though. You know, this isn't as sweet as I expected. Same. I agree. And that makes it nice and really drinkable. It's almost like a light Sprite. That's that fizziness. There used to be a brand of sports drink called Allsport, which was carbonated, confusingly, but it was like Pepsi tried to do their... Pepsi tried to do a Gatorade. Allsport? Allsport. That definitely sounds like a deodorant brand. But anyways, this reminds me of Allsport, which was not like great as a sports drink, but as just a regular drink, it was pretty damn good. Was that from the makers of Dr. Thunder? That was Kmart brand. Yeah, was that available at Farmore? Venture. Venture. That's a throwback. I bet this would slushy, by the way, and it would look pretty cool. This blue one? Yeah. Oh, yeah, absolutely. Is that a thing now that got slushy and things? Yeah. All right. Slushy. Summer's coming. I mean, you got to buy the machine and they cost a little money, but this would do well over some pebble ice. Water hazard? Yeah. I mean, what doesn't go well over pebble ice, Raj? Do you know our fascination with pebble ice? Milk. No. Do you have a Sonic anywhere near you? I think there's one at Aurora that's probably as close as I know. We got one closer. Do we? Where? There's one at Wrigleyville, I think, or just north of Wrigleyfield, yeah. So you can buy their ice to go. So it's a very specific machine. Matthew McConaughey is so passionate about this, he has one in his home. All right. A giant pebble ice maker. It's little teeny round ice cubes that, it's like how you make a mint julep. I know what pebble ice is. Okay. Well, you can get it from Sonic. You can just go to the machine and just hold a cup up there and then run out of there. Founder's Water Hazard. That's a six pack, $12.99 on sale right now. Oh, that's beer pricing. Yeah. Yeah. 23:26 Long Drink Raspberry Zero Long drink. Long drink it up. Yep. I would love for this to not be the sample label, but the actual label. It's got vegetable juice. That's got beet. Beet. Packaged by the lab, St. Paul, Minnesota. It's a sample. Yeah. It's the drink of a Finland, so it makes sense that they make it in Minnesota. Roger was the first one who introduced me to the Long Drink, and it kind of boggled my mind as a concept. Not exactly like Ranch Water, but along the same line. Fronty by the Olympics. And so here we have Wet Flavor Raspberry Long Drink. Raspberry. Seems like it's more based in Sprite and less in Squirt. Raspberry Zero. See, this one doesn't have those fake sugar kind of, to me. It does not have that flavor. I like it a lot, actually. Yeah, Long Drink has done very well since it came out maybe three years ago now. And this is an example of them adding the berry. I see people buying this a lot. Oh yeah. They've moved in 12 packs too. You know, they've, from 8 packs to 12 pack varieties and zero sugar versions. You know, I don't know if people catch on that it's a gin drink because gin drinks aren't that popular, but a Long Drink does well. That's what I was just going to say is like the gin flavor here is very subtle. Very subtle. Because I would never think that this would have caught on as much as it has because so many people, if you ask them if they drink gin, they're like, no. But then a lot of people's exposure to gin is like only gin and tonic, which doubles down on like the bitterness. So if you don't like gin to be in with, then you put tonic water in it. I remember the other Long Drinks as being way heavier than this and more cloying and sticky. And this is like really light and refreshing. This is where the zeros are for them. The zero. Okay. Man, I've been trying the long, wrong, long drink. Okay, long drink, Raspberry Zero, just a line extension, variety pack extension. We have a sample, so we don't know when it's gonna be. It's gonna be inserted into a variety pack, I think. Okay. You know, the other thing that's nice there is that it's low risk. You know, you only get stuck with two of them. Or, you know. Or you're leaving it in someone's garage for it. Yeah, Roger's friend gets stuck with two of them. The zero's already in, in the Raspberry. We have that. There you go. It is, on its own. In a variety pack. Oh, good. So we got the Zero Sugar Long Drink Variety Pack for $22.99, but there's a coupon right now. Ooh, coupon. Clip it on the Binny's website or the Binny's app. Yep. How many have we got left? 25:56 High Alcohol Canned Cocktails Two. Two more. This has been really pleasant so far. Not that I was expecting anything otherwise. On the Rocks brand sparkling watermelon margarita. Yeah, I mean, On the Rocks has been traditionally a 750 and half bottle, or 375 RTS ready to serve is how they've split the category up between RTD and RTS. RTS ready to serve. I've heard RTP too ready to pour, so whatever. Choose your acronyms. For being called On the Rocks, it definitely, their RTS needs ice. Yeah. For sure. Those are uncarbonated, full strength cocktails. higher strength cocktails. 10 percent. This is 10 percent. Yeah. What? Made with hornitos. Got in that watermelon Jolly Rancher. These showed pretty well. They've got three of them. They've got a Pina Colada, Cosmo and two margaritas, the watermelon and a regular margarita. The lime is here too. This is good. It's a nice refreshing margarita flavored soda. But if the clock's in at 10 percent, suddenly I'm perking up. The light carbonation is also pretty refreshing here. I almost don't want to give them props, but on the rocks, they got it figured out. They got this formula dialed in. You know when you get the spicy marks, there's that jalapeno flavor. It's like there's a little bit in there. But it's like the vegetable quality, the purezine quality and not the spiciness? Yeah. Yeah. It gives it a nice structure, like a backbone to it. Yeah. It has that watermelon rind, that cucumber-y. Yeah. It gives it this authentic-ness. Not that there's anything even remotely related in here, but it's pretty good flavor. You eating a lot of watermelon rinds over there? He does eat orange. He's seen it. He knows. He's the one at restaurants who goes, that's not food. Roger, can I see that can? Made premium tequila, sweetened with real cane sugar, gluten-free, simply chill and enjoy. Fruit twist in the classic margarita. Not a lot of information here, but it has triple sec in it too. Ornitas, blanco, tequila and house-made triple sec. Very nice, Centauri. You should say like having an ingredients list is pretty new for alcohol products. So, some of these are being very transparent where legally they have no requirement to do that. No requirement. That's right. I do like it when they do that. Yeah. There's always been that fight, should wine labels have to put ingredients? Then what ingredients? What counts as an ingredient? Yeah, like the fish bladders they use to find it. It is in glass. We were talking about this, Roger, with Budweiser. They don't list yeast in their advertising as one of their ingredients, but there isn't yeast in the final product, but it is added to. So, I don't know. I don't know what the right thing is. I bet when you were talking about the, because I'm just really puzzled by this, the flavor we were trying to describe, but maybe since it's colored with vegetable juice, that's giving it that, the way you were describing with like kind of that almost Yeah, peppery is a good way to put it. This is colored with vegetable juice. There's no pink here. There's other vegetables. Well, okay, there's no color here. It's just slightly milky. Yeah, it's kind of rosy. Is it? Kind of looks blue, but we've been, you've been drinking on the same cup this whole time. Really staring down this tiny sample of sparkling margarita flavored like watermelons. On the rocks. Man, I just know some bean counters figured out the price on this one. It's lime priced with the regular lime margarita, which we took in last year. That's $11.99. A four pack. For the four pack. $3.55. Bad? Yeah. 10%. That's reasonable. Made with real tequila. Yeah, at 10%. And house made triple sec. I'll tell you what, there's a lot of margarita things that if you look at them have no tequila in them. In case you couldn't hear Roger's air quotes. He made really big sarcastic scare quotes. Very nonce next one. All right, final one. Raj, this is for you. Tia Linda's margarita Pog. Hell yeah. Pog. The greatest juice combination around. This one is 18% and it says serve over ice, but. Well, for science. You have to imagine the ice. Holy cow. Look, it looks very Pog-like. It looks like pineapple juice. 18% giddy up. Roger, you want to tell people what's in a Pog? Sure. So Pog is passion fruit, orange and guava. Sometimes you see people swap in pineapple for the passion fruit or put pineapple in an addition. Pog? Traditionally originated in Hawaii and passion fruit grows on there like a weed, so they're very plentiful. Grows on trees over there. Yeah. My favorite fact that Roger taught me about Pog is that the circular collectible cardboard coins. Pogs? Were invented in these people, right? They made a giveaway, came in the cap for the little collectible. Metal Gold is a dairy company that also makes juice. So Pog is like some juice, but it's a juice drink. It's kind of like Sunny D. Yeah, Hawaiian Sunny D. So they packaged it in the old timey. It was a throwback to when people got milk delivered in glass bottles. They just had a little wooden cap. So for their bottles, they had a thick cardboard cap, and they started printing pictures on them, and kids down there made up this game with Pog caps that they were collecting. First ones I believe were elf. He's back. In Pog form. Yeah. That sounds made up. I know it does, but it's... Okay. So this is fantastic. It's a little salty, but I guess people like that with margaritas. I think I have the ice though. Maybe it kind of tempers it a little bit. Yeah. I mean, you need the... I feel like we need the ice to water it down a little. But you definitely get lime citrus, and then you definitely get this burst of all these other flavors. Yeah. The tropical flavors are really doing a lot of work. That's really scratching my itch for a canned cocktail. This brand was the most liked... I asked for top five and bottom five at the end there, and part of it kind of conforms to the theory of big, bold things stand out and people like those and they're tasting a bunch of things. I did like the coffee things the most too. That's just you though, right? Yeah, let me see. Wrong, wrong. Wrong. Right here in the list. My tastes are wrong. Jim, did you shake it? Oh yeah. It has the little dancing bottle. Oh yeah, I shook it well. I like... There's a lot going on. I like all of this. I like the packaging. Yeah, the packaging is nice. I like how it says flavors, zero. Sweeteners, zero. Preservatives, zero. I don't know how they can write zero sweeteners as cane sugar and agave. Maybe they meant zero artificial sweeteners. Yeah, must mean that. All right, though. We like agave. We like cane sugar. Yeah. This is good. How many other things do they make? There were like three or four. The variety packs, we've seen margarita packs really do well. And that, you know, cuts against the, a bunch of different drinks in one. Like you get four different margaritas, you know, it all kind of fits with the same. You get Tia Linda Pog and other, some other flavors in there. That's going to be a variety pack also, or no, those are... It's both. Oh, okay. You should bring in Pog. You'd have to look for that. Bring Pog in by itself. It's that good. Back a truck up to your house. Beep, beep. I could definitely see that being the go-to because you want a little bit of variety and, but still you're getting your favorite drink. And then you got a fridge full of Pog and you got to invite Roger over. Yeah, right. There's no way Pog's gonna be the leftover. You don't think Pog's the leftover? People are gonna, first they won't know what it is, but once they realize it. I'll tell you which one is the leftover. During this massive tasting of 130 different canned cocktails, the one scent in the room was jalapeno. Yeah. Because the spicy margaritas just absolutely took over the air. I mean, there's a reason that they pepper spray you. That's right. Greg, specifically. Yeah. You know what's funny though, and potentially frustrating is that this points out that there are these very two different categories that these have gone in, where I worry people are gonna try these and they're gonna be like, pour over ice, and Yeah. And like, this is gonna be a totally different experience. It reminds me of those tip tops, because I've seen people do that with those. They're like, oh, this is too strong. I'm like, well, it says Redani, pour over ice. Yeah. I'm like, I look good at ice? Like, yes, one step. You need to get some ice. No can's gonna tell me what to do. Yeah, like, just don't reach in. That's me. Don't reach into the cooler and grab the ice from the cooler. Yeah. Yeah, right. I was looking at the can going. The tip tops are like, I think the tiny cans are hopefully educating people a little bit. This tiny little can means that it should be poured over ice because it's very strong. The smaller it gets, the stronger it is. Well, so I agree with Reggie. I agree with your point, which is a lot of consumers don't 100 percent know which one they're getting. And I think that that's okay. It kind of shows that there's something for everyone in this category. I'm glad that the two exist. I just hope that people take the three seconds to like- Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, so like we're talking about on the rocks, they pretty smartly differentiate by having their ready to serve in a big glass bottle. It very clearly is like spirits branded, spirits- Shaped. Bottle. It says on the rocks. And it says on the rocks. There's probably a place. And yeah, it gets a little muddier when it's in these cans, but that little can, you might think twice before you take that. My point is never underestimate how lazy people are. And the beers that have lime added to them, it's like you can't cut a lime. It's going to be 10,000 times better than adding lime. Or I remember telling someone once how to make a Moscow mule, and they were like, man, that's a lot. And I was like, it's a lot. It's two things. Yeah. Jack and Coke is kind of hard. Like the published recipe for Jack and Coke. Yeah. We sell canned Jack and Coke. Yeah, because canned Jack and Coke is very popular. Very popular. Very popular. It also goes with the fact that this category is like new, and it's still, there's just a lot of confusion out there. There's a lot of choice out there, and it could be paralyzing, and I think the category is starting to settle on to a few major players. And of course, the big guys are going to come in and swoop them all up. But don't forget, Binny sells ice, and your refrigerator might also provide ice. Remember those De Cirono commercials where they go, how to order a De Cirono on the rocks? And this bartender pours like all of the De Cirono on the rocks, and the bartender gives them a look like, oh, you know what's up. And he pulls the book De Cirono and goes to pour it in the glass, and the customer is like, no, no, no, on the rocks. And the guy is like, oh, right. And then goes and gets ice and puts it in the glass like, this guy is in the know. He knows that rocks means ice, and he knows how to order a cocktail that's the spirit poured over ice. Mister, you don't want to drink rocks, do you? Like, ooh, thank you for your cocktail mastery. You poured a spirit over ice cubes. But anyway, the original RTD, De Cirono, on the rocks. All right. Hey, Jeff, thanks for coming and sharing this wave of the future. Yeah. Exciting things that's slowly taking over our entire industry. Anytime, two times a year. See you in November. All right. I think we should try to get one for the podcast studio. Yes. We got a slushy machine over there. We can slush anything. I like these ideas. Nice. We could do another iced cocktail episode. Will It Slush is the name of the episode. Oops All Pebble Ice. Those are both great episodes. We're doing them in the summer. Okay. I already have the Oops All graphics ready. Good. Yeah, right. Like that, unironically, my wife bought Oops All Berries, and I was like, it exists in real life. Will it slush would be fun. I mean, there's a lot of stuff here. You can go, you know. Yeah, good point. Au jus, will it slush? Yeah, it will. What were those things, you those bloody bowl things? Like a bloody bowl with Italian beef au jus. Yes. That guy was convinced that was going to work. A big cup of broth and tomatoes. Your daily allowance of sodium and four ounces. And fat. I mean, you're done. Hey, like, why not colomado but with mammals? The bane of every cardiologist. You need to cut down on your salt. Well, I like drinking beef broth and vodka. Doctor, we have another one. Pry it for my cold dead hands. Well, that'll be soon. Chase it with a gravy.
