Hyland Estates - Hyland Estates Binny's Reserve Pinot Noir
Hyland Estates’ first vines were planted in the cool McMinnville region of the Willamette Valley by Oregon wine legends, Dick Erath and Charles Coury in 1971. At the time you could count Willamette wineries on your hands with fingers to spare. This great legacy vineyard still boasts acres of old own-rooted clones of pinot and Hyland Estates is among the original all-stars, along with Eyrie, Erath, Amity and Adelsheim. When we had the opportunity to form a BVD partnership, we leapt at the chance, tasting through multiple lots to find “our wine”. Clos Du Val - Clos Du Val Binny's Private Selection Cabernet
Founded in 1972 in what would eventually become one of Napa Valley’s great nested AVAs for cabernet, the Stags Leap District, Clos du Val brought a distinctly old-world sensibility to the valley, quickly gaining a reputation for elegant, refined cabernet in the Bordeaux model. Although from the same 1972 class as one of our other great BVD partners, Caymus Vineyards, who exploit Napa’s warm climate to attain next level ripeness and extraction, Clos du Val leans into the cooling influences of the San Pablo Bay on SLD to make a very different style of wine. We are thrilled to present the other side of Napa cab. Clos du Val cabernets famously have excellent depth of fresh fruit, myriad complexities, lifted acidity and classic structure. Caymus Vineyards has been synonymous with big, ripe, fruit laden Napa Cabernet Sauvignon since 1972. So much so that they virtually define the style for many lovers of their bold approach in both vineyard and winery. Caymus, like Binny’s, has been family owned from the very start, displaying the consistent commitment to quality that we look for in partners for our BVD program. The Wagner family has generously provided us with their signature style of cabernet sauvignon in bottlings from both Napa Valley and Paso Robles as well as super luscious pinot noir and chardonnay from Monterey County under the Tableau label. Monticello Vineyards - 4242 Cabernet Sauvignon
Monticello Vineyards is a perfect fit for a Binny’s partnership given our shared heritage as family-owned businesses committed to quality. Located in Napa’s relatively cool Oak Knoll District since 1970, the Corley family also owns vineyards in AVAs around the valley. The family’s dedication to making fine wine from carefully tended estate grown fruit is laudable and the results, impressive. Monticello acts as a custom crush facility as well as a family-owned winery providing winemaker Chris Corley the unique opportunity to both teach and learn from the best winemakers in Napa. He has had a hand in making hundreds of 90+ rated wines over the years and gained a rare level of knowledge and insight. Shannon Ridge - Shannon Ridge Appellation Series Cabernet & Red Blend
Shannon Ridge is a high elevation mountain vineyard(s) planted at 2,300 feet on rugged volcanic soils in Lake County, California. Now 30 years in, the Shannon family has a sprawling 2,000 acres of mountain terroir, half of which remains untouched. This aligns with Clay Shannon’s original vision of working with not against nature. They are now transforming 1,000 acres of Shannon Ridge into one of the country’s largest certified organic, regenerative farming systems, including a flock of hungry sheep to chow down on cover crops. The wines are bold mountain expressions with the structure and intensity expected from such a special terroir, and surprise; they are great with lamb.
