Binny's Home Bartender: Irish Coffee

Classic Irish Coffee

Ingredients

How to make

  1. Warm the glass: Fill a heatproof glass or Irish coffee mug with hot water, let sit for 1 minute, then discard the water.

  2. Sweeten the coffee: Add brown sugar to the glass, then pour in the hot coffee and stir until fully dissolved.

  3. Add whiskey: Stir in Irish whiskey until well combined.

  4. Top with cream: Lightly whip the heavy cream until slightly thick but still pourable. Gently float the cream over the back of a spoon on top of the coffee to create a layered effect. Or, save time and use store-bought whipped cream.

  5. Serve immediately

Tips for the Best Irish Coffee

  • Use high-quality Irish whiskey for a smoother, more authentic flavor.

  • Freshly brewed, strong coffee enhances the richness of the cocktail.

  • Lightly whipped cream should be thick enough to float but not stiff.
