First up, our TOTALLY AWESOME Beer Social event at the South Loop Binny’s on March 8th is SOLD OUT. If you got an RSVP, then you are in for a treat. If not, hopefully we can do this again in a couple months.
If you are going, we want to address some specifics. Check out the repost of the details and final taplist below. The whole list is amazing, but the couple that we expect to tap out early are Bell’s Black Note and Founders Curmudgeon’s Better Half. We want to make sure everybody who wants a taste of these two will get their chance, so this is what we’re going to do:
When you pay the $10 to get in to the tasting, you will also have the chance to buy tickets for Black Note and Better Half. These tickets will be $5 each, will be good for a 4 oz pour, and purchases are limited to one of each.
That means two unique tickets, one for each beer, and you can purchase neither, either or both. Everybody gets a shot at everything they want. And with the rest of this taplist, there’s no shortage of other killer beers to try.

Green beer is dyed at the distributor. Some distributors color their beer, some don’t. Since distributors cover areas around Chicagoland like patchwork, some Binny’s stores can totally get you emerald suds while others can only hook you up with plain old yellow beer. Which still isn’t bad, right? We’re talking about beer, after all.
Here is an exciting seminar you should know about if you are interested in craft distilling scene. Binny’s has proudly offered the gorgeous spirits of Clear Creek Distillery for almost two decades. Clear Creek, led by owner and distiller Steve McCarthy, produces artisan craft spirits in traditional European styles in Oregon with local fruit. Here is your chance to taste some of their many liqueurs, eaux de vie and their Oregon single malt whiskey.
Adventures in law practice, public policy, and political activism preceded private business for Steve McCarthy. He started Clear Creek Distillery in 1985, and was able to sell his familys manufacturing company two years later in order to devote himself fully to Clear Creek. The distillery was established to find a better way to market the apples & pears that the family was growing in orchards in Oregon. Twenty seven years of hard work has led to a company that is widely regarded as one of the top handful of artisan distilleries in the world!
We were pretty dismayed when Goose Island axed a few staples from their year round 6-pack lineup in April of 2010. However, after an almost two year hiatus, we will see the return of Goose Island’s Nut Brown Ale next month. No lists, no lotteries, no calling around trying to score a single bottle. Just a simple yet delicious 6-pack that will be on the shelves every day, for $7.99.
