We’re Expanding!

24You heard it right via Shanken News Daily, we’re expanding and boy is it going to be big!

Starting this July, Binny’s Beverage Depot in Lincoln Park (1720 N. Marcey St.) will start its expansion from a measly 33,000 square feet to 50,000 square feet, making it one of the largest beverage superstores in the world. Needless to say, we’re pretty excited about it!
In addition, the Lincoln Park location will also incorporate the notable Lincoln Park Pumping Station including a wine and craft beer bar.

At Binny’s we’re always looking for ways to bring more product to you and to give you a different kind of experience. But of course, it wouldn’t be possible without your committed business, so thank you!

We believe the expansion will be completed by October of this year. *Crosses fingers* But don’t worry, we’ll still be open for you during the construction.

Keep your eyes out for a grand re-opening this fall!

Koval is hand made in Chicago, and they offer some of the most interesting and innovative spirits you have ever tasted. Learn all about this fabulous young distillery and why their products stand out – and of course, taste some! The seminar will feature whiskies from unusual grain types including wheat, spelt and rye. You’ll also have a chance to taste their signature 47th Ward Four Grain and Koval Single Barrel Bourbon.

Industry Tuesdays at Music Box

Here’s something cool: Join Binny’s and Belgian beer importers Vanberg & DeWulf at the Music Box Theater this summer for Tuesday afternoons of good beer, classic films and industry camaraderie.

 

We’re talking 2pm matinee screenings on the third Tuesday of each month, for the next three months. Doors open at 1:15. Some of us Binny’s guys will be on hand, along with reps from Wirtz and Vanberg & Dewulf, to talk beer. And if you fall in love with the samples we’re pouring, all are available at Binny’s every day.

 

This is mainly targeted at food and beverage industry folks – hence the Tuesday afternoon time slot. We’re stoked at the opportunity to hang out with fellow industry folks!

Taste at the Track at the Track

 

Last Saturday was Binny’s Taste at the Track at Arlington Park. If you were there, thanks a ton for joining us! It was a perfect afternoon for a wine tasting… until the fifteen minutes. But a little rain didn’t stop us from having an amazing afternoon of horse racing and wine tasting!

22nd Annual Skokie Festival of Cultures – May 18 & 19

Every year, Skokie throws a big multicultural party, with folk music and dance, food, arts and crafts, games, merch and a whole bunch of displays celebrating cultures spanning the globe. I’ve been there; it’s fun. It is aptly called the Skokie Festival of Cultures. This year, for the first time, Binny’s is excited to join in the celebration.

Leave it to Binny’s to mix things up. We’re featuring different beers across the two days. We worked out the tasting to have some fun with different and similar styles.

 

Of course, all beer has an international background. Europe has its classic styles; the US has taken those styles and put their own twist into them. Each day, we’re featuring three domestic and three imports. Imports include the UK, Germany, and Austria. Domestically, we will pour beers from Chicago, Oregon, Hawaii, and Kansas. The lists:

World of Whiskies 2013

We tell this story every year, and it gets better every year.

 

Last night was the 10th annual, big big Binny’s World of Whiskies event. It was bigger and better than ever. There were 75 tables holding more bottles of whiskey than we could count. There was a cake shaped like Mark Twain. Pop Tart wrapper space suits and a rocket. Live cigar rolling. A whole crowd of friendly whiskey enthusiasts. Cookies. All our rowdy friends in the spirits industry. Kilts. Cocktails. And then more whiskey.
