2014 Chateau De Beaucastel Chateauneuf De Pape

"The full-bodied, dense 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape seems a bit closed at the moment, but Asian five spice powder still brings plenty of complexity and nuance to the rich, dark fruit aromas and flavors. Multidimensional, layered and long, this is another terrific vintage for Beaucastel's main cuvée, perhaps falling just slightly behind the 2016 and 2018."

  "Strawberry and quince preserves on the nose anticipate the jammy ripeness and honeyed aura exhibited on a glossy, glycerol-rich palate. At the same time, though, there is a juicy fresh-fruit side to the strawberries and a stimulatingly seedy crunch. An alluring inner-mouth influx of honeysuckle and lily-of-the-valley perfume contributes to the bell-clear, at once soothing and tingling finish."

"2015 was a very dry year, so the grapes for the 2015 La Cuvee were harvested quite early to avoid overripeness. It's a blend of 55% Xarello, 30% Macabeo and 10%. It has nutty aromas, hints of fennel and even licorice, and it's balanced and poised for such a vintage and also quite dry for a brut."
