September 17th marks of start of Munichs annual Oktoberfest, but here in the Windy City the celebrating has already begun. So fill up a stein with one of these local favorites and hoist it high!
German malts make up the base of Revolutions Oktoberfest beer. Smooth and mellow, it features a nice biscuity quality as well as a candied sweetness reminiscent of caramel corn.
Metropolitan After Burner Oktoberfest
Metropolitans Afterburner features a deep earthy malt aroma reminiscent of its German forbearers. Hearty and satisfying, its complex malt profile delivers flavors of roasted chestnuts and buttered toast. The finish is nutty with a subtle kiss of noble hops.
Two Brothers Atom Smasher
Two Brothers Atom Smasher takes the traditional Marzen template, beefs it up a bit and lays it to rest in oak foudres. The result is a rich amber lager with notes of caramel, vanilla and a sweet spicy finish.
While its copper in color like a traditional Marzen, BuckleDowns Oktoberfest drinks more like a modern German Festbier, with toasty malts playing second fiddle to spicy and earthy European hops. Light and crisp with a big hoppy finish, BuckleDowns take on this treasured autumnal classic is an interesting change of pace.
