As we sort through bushels of freshly picked apples and mountains of colorful squash, few beverages are more perfectly suited for this time of year than a mug of hard cider. From centuries-old tradition to innovative new blends, each of our featured ciders is delicious in its own way.

JK's Scrumpy Hard Cider

J.K.’s Scrumpy Hard Cider is about as old fashioned as hard cider gets. Owner Jim Koan’s family has been growing apples in Flushing Michigan since the 1850s. There are only two ingredients in J.K.’s Scrumpy Cider, juice from organically grown apples and yeast. All apples are grown, crushed, and slow fermented on site, resulting in a refreshing mix of fresh honeyed apple sweetness with a touch of subtle farmhouse funk reminiscent of the famous ciders of Normandy.  

Virtue Michigan Brut

Turned off by the sweetness of many ciders? Virtue Cider’s newest release, Michigan Brut is a refreshingly tart and traditional cider that is not to be missed. Made with a blend of heirloom Michigan grown apples, it spends time resting in French oak barrels, allowing for a nice layered complexity with notes of citrus, hay, and oak. A distinguished cider that fans of brut champagne will adore.  

Crispin Honey Crisp

Honey Crisp apples are one of the most talked about apple cultivars and for good reason; their name delivers as promised. Crispin’s Honey Crisp cider delivers an equally delicious gastronomic experience by combining a blend of fresh pressed apple juices with pure honey. Soft carbonation compliments a honeyed creaminess with notes of citrus and elderflower on the finish.  

Original Sin Pear Cider

Light, crisp and exceedingly aromatic, this cider explodes with the flavor and aroma of fresh cut pears. Tangy, floral and juicy, it delivers natural pear flavor without being too sweet.  

Starcut Pulsar Semi Dry Cider

Produced by Michigan craft brewing pioneer Short’s, Pulsar opens with a pleasant floral nose followed by an interesting vinous character. On the palate it’s quite snappy with flavors or gooseberry and granny smith apple along with a hint of fresh pear. It’s bright acidity and tannins scrub the palate clean and leave you thirsty for another sip.  

Vander Mill Totally Roasted Cider

Vander Mill uses handmade cinnamon roasted pecans and whole vanilla beans in order to create this one of a kind cider. The nose is a tantalizing mixed of warm cinnamon buns and fresh baked apple pie. Sweet spice and vanilla pair perfectly with bright apple notes and the pecans impart some body and a subtle nuttiness on the finish. While seemingly desert like, a good amount of acidity keeps the sweetness in check, making this unique cider perfect for the holidays.  

Citizen Cider Dirty Mayor

Fermented with freshly pressed juice from Middlburry’s Happy Valley Orchard; Citizen Cider’s Dirty Mayor is a semi sweet cider that incorporates citrus and ginger for an invigorating finish. This combination makes for a food friendly cider that works wonderfully with a myriad of Asian cuisine.
