Did you know September is Bourbon Heritage Month? We don't want The Whiskey Hotline to have all the fun, so we're celebrating with our favorite bourbon barrel aged beers. Sure, folks get excited for the super rare ones, but did you know there are great bourbon barrel aged beers available on shelves all the time?

Bourbon Barrel Aged Beers

Allagash Curieux

Are you a fan of rich bourbon flavor, but looking for something besides imperial stout? Pick up a bottle of Allagash Curieux. This curious concoction is the result of aging Allagash’s award winning Belgian Tripel in Jim Beam barrels. Fruity and creamy with soft carbonation that delivers waves of vanilla, toffee and coconut. So deliciously drinkable it’s hard to believe this opulent brew clocks in at 11% abv.

Hoppin' Frog Barrel Aged B O R I S

Bourbon barrel aged imperial stouts can be real monsters, featuring massive abv upwards of 10%. Sometimes these beasts need taming in the cellar to reach their prime. If you are looking for something that’s ready right out of the gate, it’s time to meet Boris. Barrel Aged B.O.R.I.S. the Crusher Oatmeal Imperial Stout may sound intimidating, but it’s actually a perfectly balanced, rich and creamy stout. Bourbon notes layer perfectly among malt, dark fruit and spice.

Tyranena Rocky's Revenge

Bourbon barrel aged beer in a six pack? That’s right. Rocky’s Revenge is a blend of two brown ales, one aged in Bourbon barrels. By mixing the two, subtle bourbon notes contribute nuanced complexity to this malty brew that remains a modest 5.7% abv.

New Holland Dragon's Milk

New Holland has brewed this rich, roasty and satisfying standby favorite since 2001. Oak aging imparts flavors of vanilla, butterscotch and sweet spice that meld perfectly with its big mocha finish. Not in the mood for a full 22oz? Dragon’s Milk is also available in 4 Packs.   Head on over to the Beer Buzz for beer events, new beers and more!
