"The 2007 Barolo La Villa is a beautiful, subtle wine. Dark wild cherries, plums, tobacco, licorice and smoke are some of the nuances that emerge from the glass. The wine shows gorgeous richness and concentration, yet never comes across as heavy. A textured, vivid finish provides the last impressions of this fine, highly pleasing Barolo."

2009 G D Vajra Barolo Albe

"Good bright red. Blackcurrant, sandalwood and coffee on the perfumed, fruit-driven nose. Juicy, fresh and sweet, with crunchy red fruit flavors nicely framed by harmonious acidity and ripe, fine-grained tannins. Should provide early drinking pleasure, but has the depth for mid-term cellaring. An excellent value in Barolo."

2010 Vietti Barolo Castiglione

"The 2010 Barolo Castiglione is beautiful in the way it brings together the vibrancy of the year with a soft, inviting textural presence. Freshly cut flowers, mint, sweet spices, anise and red berries are all woven together nicely in the glass. With time in the glass, the wine blossoms with exquisite finesse, floral aromatics and exquisite overall balance. Ripe, silky tannins support the exquisite finish. An insanely beautiful wine, the 2010 will give readers a good idea of just how great the 2010 vintage is at Vietti. The Barolo Castiglione is made from a large number of parcels across the Barolo zone, many of which are of a high enough level of quality that they could be bottled separately. This is first-class juice."

"The 2010 Barolo Castiglione is absolutely lovely upon first impact. It starts off dense, with notes of tar, dried cherry, and plum then adds layers of bright florals and spicy notes. Mineral shadings and smoked meat also appear as distant highlights. The 2010 vintage in particular coats the palate with a firm but subtle grip. The wine already shows great complexity."

2009 Domenico Clerico Barolo Pajana

"The 2009 Barolo Pajana also shows supple softness and immediate richness. I love the energy and the pure tension. There’s a unique brightness or crispness to the fruit that so perfectly balances out those emboldened layers of oak, spice and tobacco. The style is modern and muscular but all that strength is delivered in a silken glove."
