"The 2011 Lytton Springs is an intriguing wine. It is at once quite tannic, but also medium in body, as most wines are in this vintage. The structure of Petite Sirah is felt in the wine’s tannin. Dusty red cherries, flowers and sweet herbs wrap around the finish. There is a translucency to the 2011 that is highly appealing. In 2011, only 50% of candidate parcels were used in the final blend. The 2011 is 82% Zinfandel, 16% Petite Sirah and 2% Carignane."

2012 Ridge Lytton Springs

"The 2012 Lytton Springs is quite reserved, compact and inward at this stage. There is good density and depth in the glass, but the elements aren't fully formed just yet. While most of Ridge's 2012s are quite open today, that is not at all the case with the Lytton Springs. The 2012 is going to need time. In 2012, Lytton Springs is 70% Zinfandel, 21% Petite Sirah, 7% Carignane and 4% Mataro (Mourvèdre)."

2012 Ridge Zinfandel East Bench

"The 2012 Proprietary Red Three Valleys is composed of 82% Zinfandel, 12% Petite Sirah and the rest Carignan and Alicante Bouchet. This sexy wine (14.2% natural alcohol) reveals lots of raspberry and black cherry fruit, medium to full body, beautiful purity, delicate notes of spice, and no hint of oak. Enjoy this fleshy red over the next 3-4 years."

"Ruby red, with savory and exotic hints on the palate. High notes of lavender-laced red raspberries explode from the glass, with baking spices and chocolate base notes framing the fruit. A remarkable wine of place - the vineyard from where the Ridge sources the fruit for this cuvee is high atop a benchland, and therefore displays the more red fruit notes that Zinfandel can display should the vines enjoy higher elevations. A wine that can vie with any terroir-driven wine from France."
