"Purple/black in color with a surreal bouquet of kinky spice, truffle, mineral, and black fruit aromas, on the palate it is remarkably powerful, yet elegant. Mouth-filling, complex, and staggeringly rich, it has the balance to evolve for 15-20 years and should easily have a 50 year lifespan."

2009 Benjamin Romeo Contador

"The nose is very lifted with floral notes: crushed violets and rose petals sprinkled over cassis and dark plum fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and a gentle, insistent grip. It has a satin-like texture, bewitching harmony and a precise, languorous finish that exhibits spine-tingling minerality. Returning to the bottle hours after opening, it evolves ever-higher degrees of harmony and sumptuousness. It almost leaves you giggling stupidly at how good it is. It is expensive, but it is also cheaper than a First Growth."

2010 Benjamin Romeo Contador

"The 2010 Contador is 99% Tempranillo with 1% Garnacha raised in new French oak for 19 months. Comparing it directly against the 2009, it has slightly more delineation and lift on the nose, which is taut and demonstrates great focus. After two hours, the nose has blossomed in similar fashion to the 2009, with an undertow of blood orange and crushed violets. The lower pH level and equivalent alcohol level shows through on the palate, which is beautifully balanced, with layers of ripe blackberry, creme de cassis and blueberry jam. The texture is satin-like with a generous finish. This will be a potent, sophisticated Contador destined to seduce wine-lovers in approximately 15 to 20 years."

2004 Cune Imperial Gran Reserva

This wine was named #1 on Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2013.
"Firm and a bit austere, this red shows depth and drive, with chewy tannins supporting plum, tobacco, licorice and mineral flavors. The structure is solid but the wine remains fresh. Maturing now, this has a long life ahead."
