"The 2008 Barbaresco Riserva Paje wraps around the palate with layers of dark fruit, spices and menthol. Today, the Paje is one of the more open of the 2008 Riservas, but there is plenty going on in the glass. Sweet floral and spiced notes add lift on the finish."

2010 Paitin Barbaresco Sori Paitin

"Power and elegance meld together gracefully in the 2010 Barbaresco Sori’ Paitin. This is another huge wine loaded with fruit, structure and phenomenal balance. Sweet red cherries, flowers and cinnamon emerge over time, but the 2010 stands out most for its exceptional pedigree and pure class. Striking in every way, the 2010 is shaping up to be one of the wines of the vintage."

2009 Giorgio Rivetti La Spinetta Barbaresco Bordini

"The 2009 Barbaresco Vigneto Bordini sees fruit harvested from 30- to 35-year-old vines planted in the sandy soils of the Bordini cru of Neive. The first vintage produced was 2006. This wine is hugely aromatic with floral tones of pressed violets and lavender backed by garden herbs and mint. The long, menthol finish is divine."

2005 Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Rabaja

"The 2005 Barbaresco Rabaja is the densest and richest of these 2005 Barbarescos. Because it is aged in a slightly smaller cask, the wine shows an explosive personality along with some oak nuances that require bottle age to settle down. This muscular Barbaresco resonates on the palate with layers of spiced, mentholated dark cherries, minerals and licorice. It remains a dense, structured and primary wine in need of serious bottle age for the firm tannins to melt away. This, too, is a sublime wine from Bruno Giacosa."
