"The 2004 Guidaccio has acquired lovely complexity in bottle. Scents of tobacco, licorice and grilled herbs lead to juicy cherries as this soft, forward red opens up in the glass. Floral notes add freshness on the high-toned finish. Once again, in 2004 Guidaccio is very representative of the qualities of the vintage in the way it emphasizes elegance and finesse over heft."

2010 Antinori Guado al Tasso

"A star on the vast stage that is the Antinori wine empire, the 2010 Bolgheri Superiore Guado al Tasso is a seamless and stunning wine. It’s one of those rare wines that inspires praise and excited conversation from the very second you raise the glass to your nose. The blend is Cabernet Sauvignon (55%) with Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Baritone aromas of black cherry, black currant, cured meat, sweet spice, Spanish cedar, mocha and wild Mediterranean herbs come together in graceful unity. In the mouth, the wine is exceedingly smooth and decadent with a long velvety trail that softly coats the palate."

2008 Marchesi Torrigiani Guidaccio

"The bouquet is classic Sangiovese, while the French varieties add mid-palate presence and depth as this gorgeous red opens up in the glass. Firm yet well-integrated tannins support layers of menthol, leather, licorice and spices on the inviting finish. In its best vintages Guidaccio can challenge wines that cost twice as much, and also has the pedigree to develop beautifully in bottle. The blend is 50% Sangiovese, followed by 25-30% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot."

2009 Antinori Tignanello

"Bright red-ruby. Ripe aromas of sweet red cherries macerated in alcohol, cedar, cinnamon and pepper. Suave and seamless, with soft, almost-overripe flavors of redcurrant jam, red plum syrup, stewed red plum and tobacco leaf. A very distinctive and much creamier than usual Tignanello, finishing with supple tannins and excellent length. Obviously the product of a warmer year, and though this outstanding Tignanello is a touch less refined than some recent standout vintages, it's hard to argue with its sweet, soft style and early drinking appeal. No need to cellar this too long."
