"Smoke, game, black tea, incense, blueberry, and blackberry aromas compose the bouquet of this relatively forward, plush, pleasure-bent Syrah. It can be approached now and will continue to provide enjoyment through 2020."

2011 K Vintners Syrah Clifton Hills

"A wine that wasn’t produced in 2010, the 2011 Syrah Clifton Vineyard is a 100% Syrah all from the Wahluke Slope AVA. Loaded with potential, it exhibits a dense, full-bodied profile to go with already complex aromas and flavors. Showing the freshness of the vintage with its juicy, integrated acidity, it has beautiful ripeness, no hard edges and superb overall balance. It should be reasonably approachable on release and age gracefully."

2011 Owen Roe Syrah Red Willow Vineyard Chapel Block

"Good bright medium ruby. Sexy, high-toned aromas of blackberry, black raspberry, chocolate and rose petal. Silky and sweet on the palate, with cherry and mocha flavors complicated by a whiff of menthol. Finishes with broad, sweet, palate-saturating tannins and noteworthy length."

2009 Corliss Estates Syrah

"For this report, the 2009 Syrah is the youngest release and it’s certainly worth waiting for. A co-fermented blend of 95% Syrah and 5% Viognier that spent 30 months in 55% new French oak, it offers up a thrilling array of blackberry and black currant fruit, incense, spice box, chocolate and roasted meats on the nose. Already complex and getting a big “Wow” in my notes, it has decadent richness, yet never seems heavy or cumbersome. Similarly styled on the palate, with a full-bodied, voluptuous texture, superb mid-palate depth and masses of tannin on the finish, it will benefit from another 2-3 years in the cellar and have 10-15 years or more of ultimate longevity."
