This wine was named #22 of Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2013.

"Cedar, tobacco and spice hints frame dried cherry, berry and vanilla notes in this silky red. The flavors mingle nicely, framed by juicy acidity and light but firm tannins. The wine has a lovely, weightless intensity. A fine example of the traditional style."

2010 Muga Reserva

"In appearance it has shades of dark, very bright, cherry with slight purplish glints as the eye moves towards the rim of the glass. This is enough information for us to prepare ourselves to taste a wine with a certain amount of structure, excellent acidity and, as it is still a young 2010 wine, a promising future given that there is not the slightest trace of evolution. Before swirling the glass we can detect clearly-defined, very dominant red and black fruit (blackberry, redcurrant, wild plum). Then move the glass and fine leather aromas mingling with the fruit begin to appear. In the background, and only as a complement, select oaky spiciness comes through, still distinguishable but closely integrated into the wine. In order of predominance you can find black pepper, caramel, toast, vanilla, cloves. The most outstanding aspect of this vintage is the initial attack: juicy, meaty, dominant, full, mineral, structured, elegant. But in spite of the fact that this is all still in an incipient phase of integration. You can find light tannic appendices which will be rounded off in a short period of time. The experienced taster sees a great wine for laying down which will be able to be enjoyed during the whole journey towards maturity."

2010 Benjamin Romeo Predicador Red

"The 2010 Predicador is a blend of 93% Tempranillo and 7% Garnacha. The nose was suffering some bottle shock, but it certainly demonstrates intense floral aromas coupled with vibrant cassis fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine, structured tannins that, even at this premature juncture, are obvious. Taut, tense, and supremely well-focused, this should turn out to be a superb wine when it is released later this year."

2002 R Lopez de Heredia Vina Tondonia Reserva

"The 2002 Vina Tondonia Reserva is a blend of 75% Tempranillo, 15% Garnacho and 10% between Mazuelo and Graciano sourced from their Tondonia vineyard located in a large meander of the Ebro River on the outskirts of Haro. It is aged for six years in used barrels, racked twice per year during its upbringing and fined with egg whites before being bottled unfiltered. It has a slightly reduced nose that benefits from air contact, with shy aromas of cherries in liqueur, tea leaves, fine leather, game, blood, spice box and cigar ash, showing some evolution. The light to medium-bodied palate is balanced, with high acidity, but perhaps a little fragile, showing the difficulties of the vintage, as 2002 was a very difficult year in Rioja."
