"Hourglass’s flagship wine, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of their strongest efforts to date. An inky/purple color is followed by subtle scents of barbecue smoke, black currants, black cherries, licorice, and a hint of oak. Full-bodied, generously endowed, and deep with loads of concentration, purity, and texture, it is approachable now, but should evolve for 20-25 years." Reviewed by Robert Parker.

2010 Chateau Montelena Cabernet Sauvignon Estate

"The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is shaping up to be another beauty. Violets, freshly cut flowers, mint, spice box and plums all jump from the glass in this vivid, beautifully delineated Cabernet. The sense of energy and drive are pure 2010. Today, the 2010 is super-young, but it is immensely promising. I can't wait to taste this in another year, but I imagine it will still be an infant at age ten. A tiny splash of Cabernet Franc adds complexity to the Cabernet Sauvignon."

2009 Inglenook Rubicon

"A classy effort that is rich and layered, restrained and structured, showing fine tension between the dried currant, cedar, cigar box and anise flavors and the firm, fine-grained tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot."

2009 Heitz Cabernet Sauvignon Marthas Vineyard

"The 2009 Martha’s Vineyard is an impressive wine with remarkable clarity and depth of flavor. The enticing dark garnet color of this Cabernet softens and elongates as you tilt the wine glass to see the translucence of the hue on the edges. Its classic, clean mint aroma evokes a smile in recognition of an old friend. On the palate, layers of complexity show an opulence of fruit, smoothly integrated with the core tannins of a slightly cooler growing season. This is a beautifully focused wine with textbook varietal character. The overall vibrancy of this Cabernet promises strength and balance that will carry forward for many years of enduring enjoyment – a true treasure from the Oakville appellation within the Napa Valley."
