"The 2009 Barolo Vigneto Garetti comes from the lowest part of the vineyard. It shows great power and density with fleshy fruit, dried cherry and prune. The mouthfeel is round and dense, supported amply by the firm tannins at the back."

2010 Vietti Barolo Castiglione

"The 2010 Barolo Castiglione is beautiful in the way it brings together the vibrancy of the year with a soft, inviting textural presence. Freshly cut flowers, mint, sweet spices, anise and red berries are all woven together nicely in the glass. With time in the glass, the wine blossoms with exquisite finesse, floral aromatics and exquisite overall balance. Ripe, silky tannins support the exquisite finish. An insanely beautiful wine, the 2010 will give readers a good idea of just how great the 2010 vintage is at Vietti. The Barolo Castiglione is made from a large number of parcels across the Barolo zone, many of which are of a high enough level of quality that they could be bottled separately. This is first-class juice."

"The 2010 Barolo Castiglione is absolutely lovely upon first impact. It starts off dense, with notes of tar, dried cherry, and plum then adds layers of bright florals and spicy notes. Mineral shadings and smoked meat also appear as distant highlights. The 2010 vintage in particular coats the palate with a firm but subtle grip. The wine already shows great complexity."

2010 Paolo Scavino Barolo Monvigliero

"A round, supple Barolo, the 2010 Barolo Monvigliero is beautifully expressive. Today the Monvigliero is incredibly primary and intense, especially in its fruit, while the typical Monvigliero notes aren't fully developed. The 2010 is going to need some time to come together, but it is a beauty. With time in the glass some of the more floral and savory notes that are typical of this site begin to emerge, but only with great reluctance. Today the Monvigliero impresses for its texture, silkiness and exceptional overall balance."

"Intense scents of rose, wisteria, red berry, herbs and baking spices take center stage. The vibrant palate seamlessly weaves together red cherry, black raspberry, cinnamon, clove and mint, with a blast of orange peel on the finish. Velvety tannins make this tempting now but it also shows aging potential."

2008 Paolo Scavino Barolo Bric del Fiasc

"The 2008 Barolo Bric del Fiasc is incredibly fine in this vintage, probably because of the addition of a new Riserva from this vineyard into the lineup. Dark red fruit, flowers, mint and spices flow from this graceful, refined Barolo. It will be interesting to see where the 2008 goes from here. I can’t say the 2008 is a very typical Bric del Fiasc because it is more finesse than power, but it is a very beautiful wine just the same."
