"Darker and muskier on the nose than the Chambolle villages, hinting at blueberry, wild herbs and menthol. Then silky and intense, with more energy and freshness than the village offering. Also more tannic and closed on the back but finishes with lovely cut and lingering blackberry and cassis perfume. I like the wildness here. A very serious wine for aging." 2012 Robert Groffier Chambolle Musigny Sentiers

"Deep red with ruby highlights. Sexy, very ripe aromas of black raspberry, coffee, smoke, minerals and peppery spices. Sweet and densely packed, with excellent energy and lift to the raspberry, spice and mineral flavors. Strong, thick, nicely balanced wine with very good stuffing and length. The finish leaves behind intense spiciness and smoky minerality." -Stephen Tanzer

2010 Louis Jadot Clos Saint Denis

"The 2010 Clos Saint Denis comes across as seamless and impeccable from start to finish. It is an effortless, graceful wine that defines the essence of what makes Grand Cru Burgundy Grand Cru. It literally hovers on the palate with impeccable class and personality. The Clos Saint Denis was made with 100% whole clusters, which comes through in the wine’s personality, especially on the finish."

2010 Olivier Bernstein Bonnes Mares

"Here the expressive nose offers up a high-toned, pure and impressively complex mix of red and blue pinot fruit, violets and discreet wood nuances. There is fine richness and excellent concentration to the powerful middle weight flavors that brim with a fine minerality on the attractively textured if moderately austere, balanced and built to age finish. As with the Clos de la Roche, there is excellent phenolic ripeness to the structural elements."
