"Darker and muskier on the nose than the Chambolle villages, hinting at blueberry, wild herbs and menthol. Then silky and intense, with more energy and freshness than the village offering. Also more tannic and closed on the back but finishes with lovely cut and lingering blackberry and cassis perfume. I like the wildness here. A very serious wine for aging." 2010 Louis Jadot Clos de la Roche

"The 2010 Clos de la Roche is dark, voluptuous and seductive. Black cherries, mint, spices and graphite flesh out on the mid-palate and finish. The Clos de la Roche boasts gorgeous inner sweetness and perfume, with big, yet fine, tannins that frame the fruit through to the finish. The style is rather immediate, but I don’t see anything wrong with that."

2009 Louis Jadot Chapelle Chambertin

"Complex, soil-driven aromas of dark berries, cherry, licorice, pepper and minerals, lifted by a note of blood orange. Juicy, intensely flavored and imploded; taut and powerful yet at the same time elegant. The crop level here was close to 50 hectoliters per hectare, noted Lardiere, but the grapes were small and no saignee was done. The long finish shows a distinctly creamy aspect." 92-95 pts, reviewed by Stephen Tanzer.

2010 Olivier Bernstein Clos de la Roche

"A highly complex and unusually elegant nose for young Clos de la Roche features notes of purple fruit, violets and spiced plum along with the usual pungent earth character that can also be found on the rich, intense and broad-shouldered flavors that possess a seductively textured mid-palate as well as excellent length. There is good phenolic ripeness to the supporting structural elements as well as plenty of tannin buffering extract."
