Region: Bordeaux, Castillon Cotes de Bordeaux

"This is a gorgeous effort, made from a blend of 80% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Cropped at 22 hectoliters per hectare from their clay over limestone soils, the wine displays oodles of new oak, crushed chalk, and blueberry and blackberry fruit with hints of raspberries and pen ink. It is full-bodied and layered, with a fleshy, even succulent mid-palate and a long, long finish. This is terrific Castillon to drink over the next 10-15+ years." -Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 93 pts.

"Blackberry and mineral aromas follow through to a medium to full body, with firm tannins and a spicy, berry and coffee bean finish." -Wine Spectator, 87-90 pts.

2010 Chateau d'Aiguilhe Castillon Cotes de Bordeaux

"This wine is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc and shows powerful, yet well integrated, oak. The palate is laden with thick concentrated dark fruits such as plum, cassis and black cherry that give way to hints of creamy mocha. This is a fantastic wine that would appeal to fans of both California wine as well as Bordeaux."

"From the brilliant proprietor Stephan von Neipperg, the 2010, a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc that hit 15% natural alcohol, is ripe and intense but exhibits good minerality and freshness as well as lots of blueberry and blackberry fruit, with hints of charcoal, licorice and asphalt. Rich and full-bodied, with no hard edges." - Robert Parker, Jr.

"Very lush and expressive, with caressing plum sauce, mulled blueberry and blackberry fruit and melted licorice and warm fruitcake flavors, all gliding together through the finish. Offers lovely range and a seductive mouthfeel."
