"Love the spicy, nutmeg and floral nose to this. Medium-bodied, with well-integrated tannins and a medium finish. Tight now, but should come around."

2009 Chateau Lilian Ladouys Saint Estephe

"On the toasty, more modern side of the spectrum, with ambitious roasted fig, apple wood and blueberry confiture notes followed by racy graphite, espresso and blackberry pâte de fruit. Not shy, but has the density for balance."

2011 Chateau Phelan Segur Saint Estephe

"This has good stuffing, with engaging plum, cassis and blackberry coulis flavors at the core, holding steady through the anise-studded finish, accented by hints of charcoal and violet. Reveals a pebbly accent at the very end, keeping this grounded."

"A sleeper of the vintage, this is a beautiful follow-up, in a much more challenging vintage, to their exceptional 2009. Deep plum/purple-hued with a nose of mulberries, black currants and cassis, the wine is dense, medium-bodied, ripe for a 2011, with good underlying acidity and a seriously endowed, layered texture. The tannins are present, but well-integrated and ripe." -Robert Parker, Jr.

2010 Chateau Lafon Rochet Saint Estephe

"Tasted blind at the Southwold Bordeaux 2010 tasting. Wow - this Saint Estephe appears to be just getting into its stride. This seems reticent on the nose at first, but modest coaxing reveals scents of blackberry mixed with gravel and incense. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip, firm tannins and a pleasant salty tang on the finish. Masculine and structured, with good persistency and a lovely austere personality, Basile Tesseron and his team have overseen an aloof but engaging Lafon-Rochet that could be the dark horse of the appellation." -Neal Martin
