Type: Red Wine

"Sports a good coating of roasted apple wood to go with the core of juicy plum and steeped black currant fruit. Lively anise and clove notes stud the finish, with the toast hanging on. A touch amped up, but will certainly have some fans."

2009 Domaine Pont de Guestres Lalande de Pomerol

"Made entirely of Merlot, this wine offers ripe and rich forward fruit that is simply luscious. The flavors are supported by a soft but solid tannic backbone that provides structure without a harsh finish. Round and full on the palate, the wine shows great balance from the nose through to the finish."

2003 Chateau Haut Bergey Pessac Leognan

"Dullish dark red. Coffee and mocha aromas. Moderately dense and chewy on the palate, with flavors of blackcurrant, mocha, chocolate, coffee and herbs. Seems a bit fuller in the middle than it was last year prior to the bottling. A low-acid wine with substantial tannins. Drink it over the next few years before it dries out." -Stephen Tanzer

2010 Chateau de Chambrun Lalande de Pomerol

"This captures the ripeness of the vintage nicely, with lush linzer torte and blackberry notes carried by plush, well-integrated structure."
-Wine Spectator, 89 to 92 pts.

"Chateau Chambrun is emerging as a worthy competitor to what is generally considered to be the finest wine of the appellation, La Fleur de Bouard. Cropped at 21 hectoliters per hectare, and made from a final blend of 94% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc, the 2010 is a real blockbuster. Its dense purple color is followed by a big, sweet nose of melted chocolate, espresso roast, blackberries and cassis. Aromatic, rich, unctuously textured and thick, it achieved 14.5% natural alcohol and should drink nicely for 7-8 years." -Robert Parker
