"If you want to impress a friend with a pure, hedonistic St.-Emilion that also offers an intellectual challenge, the 2012 Croix de Labrie, a St.-Emilion fruit bomb, is the wine for you. Unfortunately, the 250-case production means this cuvee is limited in availability. Aromas of incense, Christmas fruitcake, Asian plum sauce, blackberries, licorice and truffles soar from the glass of this dense plum/purple-colored wine. Opulent, voluptuously textured and medium to full-bodied with no hard edges to be found, it will drink well for a decade after bottling." -Robert Paker

2010 Chateau de Sales Pomerol

"A juicy, well-toasted and forward style, with vanilla and anise up front, followed by medium-weight plum sauce and linzer torte flavors that glide through the polished finish."

"Good medium ruby. Blackcurrant, violet and a dusty mineral note on the deep nose. Dense, lush and chewy, offering, pure, precise dark berry and floral flavors. Finishes broad, saline and very long, with a density of texture and a degree of fruit concentration that I have never before found in De Sales--and that I didn't even think was possible in view of this estate's very sandy soils. Without doubt the best wine ever made by owner Bruno de Lambert. Well done." -Stephen Tanzer

2011 Chateau Croix de Labrie Saint Emilion

"One of St.-Emilion’s most hedonistically and lavishly endowed/ extravagant wines is a big-time winner. Unfortunately, the production from proprietor Axelle Courdurie is minuscule. The 2011 exhibits exotic black cherry and black raspberry fruit intermixed with spice aromas that resemble a Northern Rhone such as Cote Rotie. The complexity of the aromatics at this stage was surprising. Medium to full-bodied with luscious fruit and a silky, suave, savory finish, it will provide delicious drinking over the next 7-8 years." - Robert Parker
