" It possesses supple tannins (unusual for this property) as well as a super opaque purple color, and an unctuousness and thickness that are normal for Clos de Sarpe (I have often accused this estate of making wines for those with 19th century tastes). It is undeniably rich and massively extracted, but not the least bit bitter or astringent. The tannins are surprisingly civilized and supple by the standards of Monsieur Beyney. This is a unique, original style of St.-Emilion that may not be for everybody, but it is of very high quality as well as exceptionally long-lived. It should last for 20-25 years." -Robert Parker

2010 Chateau La Confession Saint Emilion

"An absolutely stunning wine from the Janoueix family, this dense, full-bodied, wonderfully floral and blueberry/blackberry-scented wine shows some toasty vanillin, but then hits the palate with a full-bodied thunder and cascade of glycerin and fruit in its luscious personality. Captivating and seductive, thick, juicy, full-bodied and pure, this is a beautiful St.-Emilion fruit bomb to drink over the next 10-15 years." -Robert Parker

2011 Chateau Pavie Macquin Saint Emilion

"This well-known St.-Emilion estate has turned out a dense purple-colored blend of 84% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. Super-concentrated, but not over-extracted, with an essence of blackberry, blueberry and black raspberry fruit interwoven with dusty, chalky minerality as well as a floral note, this full-bodied, rich, moderately tannic, pure, layered, impressive 2011 will benefit from 4-5 years of cellaring. It can be enjoyed over the following two decades."

"This has intense crushed plum, blackberry and black currant fruit flavors rolled together, along with hefty, briary grip and lots of smoldering charcoal notes. Dense and long, delivering power on a refined structure and showing terrific anise and spice accents through the finish. One for the cellar. This estate is on a roll right now. Best from 2016 through 2028."

2011 Chateau Beausejour Duffau Saint Emilion

"A hedonist's delight, this brings a wide range of enticing plum, raspberry, blueberry and boysenberry confiture flavors together, keeping them fresh and driven, with well-embedded acidity and a dense yet polished structure. A seductive spice and black tea edge emerges on the finish. Best from 2017 through 2027."

"Another brilliant wine of great nobility and finesse, the 2011 Beausejour-Duffau reveals a saturated chalky minerality as well as plenty of blue and black fruits, and fabulous precision and purity. It possesses a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel and a distinctive/singular style only possessed by the greatest wines. Give it 4-5 years of cellaring and drink it over the following two decades. It promises to be one of the longest lived wines of the vintage. At 14.7% alcohol, this is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc."
