"A beautiful effort from Helene Garcin, the 2011 Barde-Haut is dominated by Merlot blended with Cabernet Franc. It boasts an impressively saturated plum/purple color as well as an attractive bouquet of creme de cassis, sweet cherries and bluer, mountain-like fruit. With good crunchiness, vibrant acidity, a sweet core of red and black fruits and medium body, this sleeper of the vintage should drink well for a decade or more. Normally this is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc."

"This pumps out some mouthfilling plum, blackberry and boysenberry compote notes, studded with licorice snap and fruitcake hints and backed by a long, charcoal-studded finish. Shows ample toast. A not-shy version that should knit together well. Best from 2016 through 2023."

2011 Chateau Fleur Cardinale Saint Emilion

"This gorgeous 2011 continues the succession of impressive wines made by this estate since it was acquired by the Decoster family. Beautiful black raspberry, blueberry and black currant fruit notes intermixed with a touch of spring flowers emerge from a wine with excellent balance, nicely integrated acidity, tannin, alcohol and wood, and a healthy saturated ruby/purple color. This full-bodied, long, captivating La Fleur Cardinale is already drinking well, and should continue to do so for 10-12 years. It is a sleeper of the vintage." -Robert Parker, Jr.
