"A tight, vivid, juicy, concentrated yet graceful youngster, focused on dense mineral, dark berry, currant and blackberry fruit, ending with chewy tannins and notes of espresso and spice. Comes on the heels of a 2007 that seemed out of sync with the vintage."

2010 Chateau Montelena Cabernet Sauvignon Estate

"The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is shaping up to be another beauty. Violets, freshly cut flowers, mint, spice box and plums all jump from the glass in this vivid, beautifully delineated Cabernet. The sense of energy and drive are pure 2010. Today, the 2010 is super-young, but it is immensely promising. I can't wait to taste this in another year, but I imagine it will still be an infant at age ten. A tiny splash of Cabernet Franc adds complexity to the Cabernet Sauvignon."

2005 Chateau Montelena Cabernet Sauvignon Estate

"Complex aromas of currant, licorice, graphite, bitter chocolate, smoked meat, tobacco and brown spices. Began juicy, penetrating and quite youthfully unevolved, but aeration brought a suppler, rounder texture and more generosity to this impressively structured wine. Complicating notes of bitter cherry, menthol and minerals. This will require a good eight to ten years of aging but the substantial tannins are sweet and lush." Reviewed by Stephen Tanzer.

2009 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Cask 23

"The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Cask 23 Estate is dark rich and intensely satisfying. Layers of dark fruit flow effortlessly from this big, textured Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2009 possesses gorgeous mid-palate depth and stunning overall balance, especially relative to other recent vintages. This is a super-impressive showing."
