"The 2010 Duas Quintas (Dq) Adriano Ramos Pinto is a blend from Ervamoira (150 meters in altitude) and Bons Ares (600 meters). A fourth of the total blend was aged in French oak for 12 months, the rest in tank. In a difficult year, this shows beautifully, focused, with a nice backbone and some precision. In its youth, it has a somewhat candied note on the finish. It is the sweet, young fruit, mostly pure and mostly unoaked. I suspect that will fade with some time. In the meanwhile, this inexpensive wine has real structure and a bright, elegant feel to it. If drunk on the younger side, this will make most feel that they got quite a deal. It shows well in the vintage. It’s a steal at the moment, likely to be at peak this summer and over the next couple of years."
