"Complex aromas of dark fruits, coffee, earth, spices and musky soil tones, with nuances of licorice and ashes. Silky and lush in the mouth, but with lovely sappy energy to the ripe dark fruit and spice flavors. Thanks to its sound natural acidity (it's cooler at the top of the Corton hillside), this cuvee began very reductive, noted Prost. Very long on the aftertaste." 91-93 pts, reviewed by Stephen Tanzer.

"A candidate for the “wine of the vintage,” Pontet Canet’s 2008 boasts an opaque purple color as well as copious aromas of sweet blueberries, blackberries and black currant fruit intertwined with lead pencil shavings, subtle barbecue smoke and a hint of forest floor. Full-bodied, with fabulous richness, texture and tremendous freshness, this first-growth-like effort is more developed than the uber-powerful 2010. Give it 5-8 years of cellaring and drink it over the following three decades. Bravo!" Reviewed by Robert Parker.

"The 2010 Etna Rosso Calderara Sottana is a lovely introduction to the vintage at Terre Nere. Pine, menthol, red cherries and wild flowers all take shape in the glass. Firm tannins provide the backbone in this finely sculpted, chiseled Nerello Mascalese. Savory notes reappear to frame the bright, high-toned finish. If opened today, the 2010 will benefit from a few hours of air."

"I tasted the 2003 on three separate occasions, one of which merited a three-digit rating... A dense, viscous-looking purple color is accompanied by a sweet perfume of blackberries, espresso roast, fried lard, and pain grille. Full-bodied and massively rich with decent acidity and plenty of structure as well as tannin." Reviewed by Robert Parker

"This wine has a deep plum tint. As I write this 2 months after bottling in February, this Pinot Noir is showing cocoa and morello cherry aromas layered over subtle hints of oak. The wild fermentation along with extended lees maturation in barrel have added complexity and texture to the bright fruit characters found of the palate. This is a supple wine with good weight and fine tannins. It will continue to drink well over the next three to five years."
