"Reticent but nuanced nose offers redcurrant, dried rose, mocha and sweet oak. Silky and lush in the mouth, with a creamy old-viney texture giving it more concentration and volume than the Clos de la Roche. This is altogether more lush. The long finish features very suave tannins and lingering saline and brown spice notes." 91-94 pts, reviewed by Stephen Tanzer.

"Captivating nose combines red raspberry, minerals, crushed stone, coffee and cocoa powder. Juicy and slightly high-toned on the palate; bit lean for this cuvee Fruitier than the Beaux Monts but the tannins seem tougher today. But finishes with sneaky length. I suspect this is better than it's showing today." 90-92 pts, reviewed by Stephen Tanzer.

"The 2010 Nuits St. Georges Clos des Porrets Saint-Georges is the first wine in this lineup that shows the structure of the vintage. Freshly cut flowers, minerals, graphite and black cherries are woven into a textured fabric of notable class. I especially like its energy and drive. A precise, finely-chiseled finish rounds things out nicely."

"Mute nose hints at cherry, mint and fresh herbs. Then silky and soft on the palate, with lovely inner-mouth perfume to the cherry, earth and saline flavors. A bigger wine than the nose suggests but not at all heavy. Finishes silky and long, with rather suave tannins. A very good showing."

"Darker and muskier on the nose than the Chambolle villages, hinting at blueberry, wild herbs and menthol. Then silky and intense, with more energy and freshness than the village offering. Also more tannic and closed on the back but finishes with lovely cut and lingering blackberry and cassis perfume. I like the wildness here. A very serious wine for aging." "Of a lovely ruby red colour, the Marsannay 2011 reveals a nose of cherries and liquorice. It is round and elegant in the mouth with smooth tannins."

"From just below the Boudot and near (Vosne) Chaumes, Leroy’s 2005 Nuits-St.-Georges Bas de Combe offers aromas of salted black cherry, rose hips and wood smoke. Uncannily meaty in the mouth with persistent sweet fruit and doughy, velvety richness, this displays a lovely sweet juiciness of pure, clear fruit and flattering floral perfume and creaminess of texture in its finish. I hardly notice the structure for the sweetness of fruit and all the pillows strewn ‘round."
