"A beautiful dark caramel color, the 2005 Selvapiana Vin Santo has a viscosity and purity that must be tasted to be believed. Like all Vin Santo, the grapes were dried on straw mats to concentrate the fruit. After vinification it was aged in small barrels. This is an expensive way to make wine but when done right, the result is worth the effort. The mouth feel is viscous yet wonderfully balanced by the framing acidity. Flavors of blood orange, dried apricot, raisins, honey, roasted almonds and savory mint combine beautifully on the complex palate."
