"The 2011 Xinomavro Young Vines is fast becoming a popular, go-to entrant for an easy going and inexpensive introduction to Xinomavro. What it usually lacks in depth, it makes up for in purity and fruity elegance, partly, no doubt, because it leans to the tank rather than the barrel. It is no weak sister, showing notable power and some concentration relative to the level, perhaps exceeding last year’s version. While still fresh and exuberant, the serious backbone gives this a bit of gravitas. You’re not getting off easy here just because it is a second wine that says “young vines.” The mid-palate is still elegantly constructed, but then it finishes with that astringent bang. The color is light, not unusual for this grape. This is relatively serious wine at a not-so-serious price."
