"The wonderful bouquet includes scents of seaweed, smoke, peat, iodine, kippers and pipe tobacco. The palate entry is briny and intense; the midpalate is oily with traces of anise, butterscotch and linseed oil. Finishes vibrantly with tastes of salted butter, oil and brine. Highly idiosyncratic: for lovers of robust, seaside malts. Best Buy." - 96-100 pts

Color: amber. Nose: figs, grapes, raisins, sea breeze, light smoke, chocolate frosting, lavender, ashy smoke, and toasted almonds. Taste: smooth and sweet, lighter than the 10, no heat, malt, honey, bitter dried oak, then light salt and lemon. Finish: dried fruit, smoke, pumpkin seeds, some black pepper, dried mango and apricot, blackberry, raisins vanilla pudding, light char, and ash with lingering smoke. Talisker Distiller's Edition is usually a step-up from the 10, but this release is about the same.

Talisker Distillers Edition (1999 reviewed here)
Reviewed by: "Texacer" from Reddit.com/r/scotch | August 03, 2013

91.6 proof - color: dark smokey gold - nose: sweet salty, pumpkin marmalade, smokey malted bananas. tootsie rolls - taste: rich. peppery. savory sweet peat. vanilla honey and cocoa. slightly nutty with raisins. - finish: smoothness at first, which gives away to a spicy heat and then a slow dissolve double matured in regular then Amaroso Sherry cask. the Lagavulin DE is way better but that's how I feel about the regulars of both. Its definitely more rich than the regular Talisker 10 which I like for its subtlety. 87/100
