"The aromatic profile is assertive yet welcoming, sweetish yet cereal dry, and oaky yet floral and a touch briny; the quintessential 12-year-old malt bouquet. In the mouth, the integrated flavors come in waves of toasted walnut, dark caramel, toasted marshmallow and barely perceptible seaweed."

Great All-Around Single Malt
Reviewed by: Whiskycat | December 26, 2015

Nose: Honey malt, vanilla, spiced floral candle wax, slight peat and smoke. Palate: Roasted almonds, buttered toast, citrus/lemon, and a light, peaty smokiness. Finish: Short and dry, crushed roasted almonds, soft buttered pretzel roll and a hint of smoke. Comments: More complex than I expected. A couple of teaspoons of water amplifies the smoke and nut flavors. A pleasant mixture of many different flavor profiles.

My house bottle.

Color: amber. Nose: grass and smoke. Taste: dry and smooth, sweet malt, honey, and sherry, plus salt, hay, and a trace of peat. Finish: campfire embers, light lingering smoke, and raisin-sherry. Very pleasant with a lot to offer. I have bought more bottles of HP12 than any other single malt.

86 proof - Color: apple cider - Nose: lightly roasted nuts, baked yams, malted milk, spiced vanilla - Taste: malted peat, robust raisins and vanilla, salted cashew butter, toasted honey - Finish: fresh light smooth yet full bodied and lingers quite nice. This is one of my goto's. A favorite that I can recommend to all whisky drinkers no matter what you like. It has something for everyone in the taste department. Just a solid malt and nicely priced. 92/100
