"Bright old gold color. Aromas of buttercream on pineapple pound cake follow through on a soft, satiny entry to a dry-yet-fruity medium body with creme caramel and cola nut notes. Finishes with an orange caramel and delicate peppery spice fade. Very nice and effortless drinkable." Gold Medal.

Knappogue Castle 12 year old Irish Single Malt

"The bouquet aromas include barley malt, asparagus, hollandaise, dry breakfast cereal, white peppercorns and salt. Entry is soft, citrusy-orangy, moderately baked and toasty; an almond nougat taste enters at midpalate and nicely offsets the dry maltiness and vegetal flavors. Shows solid presence and a hint of heather in the finish." 85-89 pts.

Bushmills 10 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey

"The early stage aroma is fresh, malty, yeasty/beery and honey-like; further aeration stimulates intriguing notes of nougat, milk chocolate and oaky vanilla. Palate entry offers pleasantly fruity/grainy tastes that are off-dry. Ends up semisweet, candied and even a tad sherried." 85-89 pts.

"..something of a cult legend in Ireland, my guess is that it has the chance to become the same in the U.S.; a dandy example of a pure pot still whiskey."

I was given a tumbler of this at The Humidor in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, and the first thing that hit me was the fruity note, specifically an apple. I half expected some infused liquor and not Irish Whiskey. But then I took my first sip and I just have to say "WOW". Buttery and warm, it was a new sensation really. It's warm, it's mellow, and I'm here to buy some for myself. Up The Irish.
