Buffalo Trace Bourbon

"Delicate and smoky on the nose displaying notes of citrus, cedar, maraschino and a touch of blossom. Very mellow in the mouth and alludes to honey, citrus and maple. Dried fruits play a role as well. The citrus motif carries on into the finish which also prominently features a maple like sweetness. Outstanding."

Knob Creek 9 Year Old Small Batch Bourbon

"Smells of sweet corn, buttered popcorn and pistachio nuts in the early stages; later whiffs pick up well-endowed scents of sautéed butter, oaky vanilla, beeswax and linseed oil. Palate entry is full-bodied, sweet and honeyed; at midpalate the taste profile turns drier, more intensely grainy-mashy and breakfast cereal-like. Finishes with notes of nougat, almonds, candy bar, and oak. Best Buy." 90-95 pts.

USED TO BE CHEAP - HIGH QUALITY BOURBON October 08, 2014
Reviewed by: JIMC

This was an unknown brand for a long time. Now it has jumped up in price. Someone finally saw this was a 12-year old Bourbon that was not selling for much money.

Compares to any of the BIG names like Jack Daniels, Makers Mark, Knob Creek, Old Fitzgerald.

I would say Elijah Craig is better than the BIG names. Not a super bargain as it used to be, but still worth the price today.

As a friend of mine told a bar owner, "Your TOP shelf is his bottom shelf." I know my whiskeys.
