Very fine scotch, but for the money??? August 24, 2014

Auchentoshan makes a bunch of really great single-malts, and this is one of them. Being one of the only (the only?) triple-filtering distilleries making single malts, the taste is very smooth, but bottled at 53% means a health dose of water is needed.
It's a complex scotch, NOT for the beginner, with plenty of almond and vanill and honey, but a significant amount of bite. Tastes younger than its 16 year age mark.
Bottom, line, however, despite being a really nice dram, I don't think it's worth the ~$120 asking. Buy it to impress your friends, but don't buy it expecting…
