In 2009, Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible named Ardbeg Uigeadail ‘World Whisky of the Year’ – in praise of its “utter silky brilliance” and “complexity on a level only a handful of distilleries in the world can even dream of reaching.” Ardbeg Uigeadail (pronounced ‘Oog-a-dal’) is a special vatting that marries Ardbeg’s traditional deep, smoky notes with luscious, raisiny tones of old ex-Sherry casks. It's non chill-filtered at high strength, which retains maximum flavour and gives more body and added depth.

My 3rd bottle......

A potent, fabulous mouthful of Islay. I love the heavy peat smoke of the islands and like them all. But this is special. And bottled at 54.2%, what is there not to like. I do add some water to open up the delight this Ardbeg is. I am on my third bottle now and ordered 2 more from Binny's as their price is hard to beat. My rating is 93/100.

A complex, peaty & sherry heavyweight.

First off: this isn't quite cask strength, but it still packs a punch! Color: Gourmet honey. Nose: Very pungent! Big trio of fruit, malt, and peat. Also wet grass, masago, peanut brittle, blood orange, red wine, raisins, ginger, plus alcohol and (yes) iodine. Taste: Some heat, heavy veggy-peat, edamame, sour cream, pottery clay, beef broth, buttermilk, and plum. Heavy. Deep. Finish: Smoke, burnt ends, char, bitter dark chocolate, ripe blueberries, sherry oak, cigar ash, furniture polish, and blue cheese. Sultry. Every time I try "ooga-dal" I appreciate it more. Top of the line for Ardbeg.
