"Golden color. Raw honey with phenolic peat, iodine, and burnt sugar aromas. A round entry leads to a sweetish medium-bodied palate with sweet creamy caramel, peat, heather, herbs, and peppery spice flavors. Finishes with a long iodine and toffee fade. Wild and raw Islay flavors meshed with mellow sweetness."

Laphroaig Triple Wood Islay Single Malt

Similar to Laphroaig Quarter Cask, but also finished in oloroso sherry casks. Fruit and smoke: fleshy red berries, red licorice, toffee, ripe barley, coal tar, sun-baked seaweed, peat smoke, and a hint of coffee grounds. Tarry finish. I rated the Quarter Cask a 91, and I think this whisky is in the same ballpark. If you like sherry-influenced whiskies, then go for the Triple Wood. If not, then consider the Quarter Cask.

This is classic Islay, with all the intense peat, smoke, and briny salt water you’d ever want. I especially like the fact that it is not chill filtered and is bottled at 46%. If there is caramel coloring in it, it can't be much. This is a very light-colored whisky (like a true Islay whisky ought to…

Ardbeg 10 Non chill-filtered 92 proof,- Color: very pale tan, no doubt uncaramelcolored. - Nose: Airy sea water, a smoked nectar sweetness, dry medicinal linen.- Taste: peated pears, salted nuts and smokey fruit, white pepper - Finish: in smooth, hot flash, trails off for a long while. Might be harsh to the uninitiated but a classic Islay Malt for sure 88/100
