"Old Scout Straight Rye Whiskey is a part of our Old Scout line of whiskey that we “merchant bottle”. It’s a 7 year old whiskey using a mashbill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley. You’ll like the sweet and smooth character while it still retains the spicy and bold notes for which all good ryes are known. Black tea, honey, baking spices and a bit of mint make this a powerful whiskey that’s enjoyed neat or stands up well in a cocktail."

Ole George Whiskey is distilled from a 100% rye mash bill and is bottled at 93 proof. Here at Grand Traverse Distillery our goal was to distill a traditional rye whiskey. Prior to prohibition Americans drank rye whiskey. Rye has a unique character that no other grain can provide in that the rye imparts a spicy flavor. Our Ole George Whiskey is bottled straight from the barrel. We do not chill filter our whiskey. Chill filtering can remove flavor from the whiskey which is why we will not chill filter. Our goal with Ole George Whiskey is to let the unique flavor of the rye come through.

At 124 proof, this un-aged spirit was made with 66% rye, and 33% hand malted barley. The malt was lightly smoked with 60% applewood, 40% cherrywood.
