For Christophe, Winemaker and General Manager at Stags’ Leap Winery, the identity of a wine is found through the terroir. His career in the wine industry has spanned from sales to winemaking, and his impressive background includes positions at Chateau d’Yquem and Gruaud-Larose as well as projects in Chile, Spain, and Washington State. It was the terroir of Stags’ Leap that drew him to California. “I believe that wine should express the uniqueness of the land,” says Christophe. “The Stags’ Leap wines have always showcased one of the most distinctive regions in the Napa Valley.” Today, Christophe’s winemaking philosophy is informed by the sum of his varied experiences. “Wine is culture. There is history and tradition behind it. You enjoy it on the table with food and good conversation, and making wine involves working with other people." Come spend a couple of hours with Christophe, taste through is elegantly made Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Syrah, and discover something very new about this famous wine region.

He has studied classic brandy production around the world with an emphasis on classic European styles. While planting the first vineyards and orchards in California dedicated to preserving traditional varieties of apple and grapes for distillation, he continues to manage all production at Osocalis.
