The Return of Goose Island Nut Brown Ale

We were pretty dismayed when Goose Island axed a few staples from their year round 6-pack lineup in April of 2010. However, after an almost two year hiatus, we will see the return of Goose Island’s Nut Brown Ale next month. No lists, no lotteries, no calling around trying to score a single bottle. Just a simple yet delicious 6-pack that will be on the shelves every day, for $7.99.

Hopefully we will soon see the re-introduction of Goose Island’s Oatmeal stout, another fantastic beer that used to be a year round offering, but was discontinued alongside Nut Brown Ale.

  1. One of the best American Browns out there. If they put it on cask at the Goose Island Brewery you will need wild horses to pull me off my bar stool.

  2. Actually Bourbon County was released not too long ago, and is likely done until next year. It is possible they may release another very small batch sometime soon though.

  3. Save one bottle of bourbon county for next year and the second one for the following year!! You won’t be disappointed.

  4. I have greatly mourned and missed the passing of the Nut Brown (I remember when it was called “Hex Nut” Brown) and am very happy to hear of its return. Being a big fan of both brown ales and porters, I felt the Goose brown ale version was one of the best in its class, I look forward to its return!

  5. I will head over to get some for the weekend. Also, I have two bottles of the Bourbon County left and it is excellent, too! It’s funny, the only one I don’t love is the flagship, Honkers. Just average, in my view.

  6. I am so happy to hear about Nut Brown, and am looking forward to the fantastic Oatmeal Stout! Never understood how they took those off the market!
