Bourbon Women Night Recap and Photos

Bourbon Women Night was a fantastic evening of education, networking and of course, oodles of bourbon!

Jim Beam Binny's

Fun whiskey enthusiasts enjoyed samples from a large selection of bourbon, whiskey and craft spirits. It’s tough to name our favorites because they were all so amazing. A few highlights included a Vosges chocolate and Koval bourbon pairing, craft spirits from our friends at North Shore Distillery and incredible single malts and cask strength Signatory bottlings from the Stoller profile. We also had some sweet treats (Bourbon Manhattan cupcakes to be exact) from our pals at Cakes Under The Influence.

Hennessy Brings You The Blue Bird

They’re calling it their “Never stop. Never settle.” campaign, showcasing the story of legendary motorist Sir Malcolm Campbell’s historic breaking of nine land speed records in the 1920′s and 30′s. Considering the spirit of the campaign, I have to wonder if Sir Malcolm Campbell’s iconic racecar had brakes.

Blue BirdSee, Campbell was the kind of thrill seeker who broke land speed record after land speed record. Campbell, as it turns out, was also famous for being one of the few land speed record holders who did not die in a firey auto crash. He had a series of cars, all called “Blue Bird,” and Hennessy is touring a 24 foot replica of one of these fast, fast cars across America.

Binny’s Lincoln Park
Friday, April 25th, 4-7 pm

Binny’s Evergreen Park
Sunday, April 27th, 1-3 pm

Along with the car and a timeline of Campbell’s accomplishments, Hennessy is showcasing samples of signature cocktails featuring Hennessy. Plus, this is your chance to enter a sweepstakes to win a trip to France, including stops at the Hennessy Distillery in Cognac and the Formula 1 Academy in Nice. If you can’t make it to the event, participate by tweeting @HennessyUS with the hashtag #wildrabbitchase.

Cider Week Events: Zeffer Cidery Tasting

zeffer_blogIf you haven’t jumped on the cider bandwagon phenomenon yet, maybe this will change your mind. Josh Townsend, from arguably one of New Zealand’s best cider producers, Zeffer, is coming to Binny’s. He’ll share Zeffer’s fine ciders, including Apple, Pear, and Slack Ma Girdle.

Not only is their fruit sourced directly from New Zealand growers and freshly crushed on site at the cidery, but the entire small operation is run by a cute husband and wife team, Sam Whitemore and Hannah Bower. They produce their ciders in small batches with the intent to interfere as little as possible, allowing natural flavors and aromas to develop for a unique cider.

Binny’s South Loop Tasting Room
Thursday, February 6th from 6-8pm
No RSVP is required.

Can’t make it? Don’t worry. Josh and his team will pour their delicious fruit fizz at Chicago’s Cider Summit (sponsored by yours truly) on Saturday, February 8th. Click here for tickets.
