Binny’s in Evergreen Park: Busy and Crowded

Binny's in Evergreen Park - A Crazy Blur

With less than a week until doors open, the upcoming Binny’s in Evergreen Park is a flurry of activity. Yet more wine, spirits and beer arrive every day, and we have to sort it all, build displays and stock it to shelves. Nobody even has enough time to pose for proper photographs for our website. But somehow they have enough time to make comments like, “Hey jerk! Put down that camera and get to work.”

We’ll see you next week at Binny’s in Evergreen Park when we finally open the doors to the public. And maybe a week or two after that, store manager Jeff Bogdan can finally get some rest. (Pic of a tired Jeff Bogdan after the jump.)

Binny’s in Evergreen Park: More Progress

Wine Shelves at Binny's in Evergreen Park

Here’s a quick, out-of-focus update (I didn’t bring the good camera this time) on the new Binny’s in Evergreen Park. What a difference a day makes! Trucks arrived first thing in the morning yesterday, dropping off the first shipments of wines and sprits from all over the world. We still have a long way to go – and many, many more trucks full of merchandise to unload, sort through and stock on shelves before we open the doors for business on November 20th. And we do have some surprises coming, too. So keep your eyes on this space, and we’ll see you on the 20th!

Binny’s in Evergreen Park: 12 Days and Counting

Binny's Evergreen Park Storefront Sign

That’s right – we’re counting down the days until we open the doors at the newest Binny’s Beverage Depot in Evergreen Park. That means that at 9 am on November 20, 2013, you can come inside the South Side’s largest wine, spirits and craft beer superstore. It’s at 3447 W 95th St, the former home of Bleeker’s. And it is an amazing building.

We still have a long way to go until the store is ready. After the jump, the last you’ll ever see of Binny’s in Evergreen Park without the beverages.

Binny’s in Evergreen Park: Peek Inside

Progress! Construction is happening right now on the upcoming Binny’s Beverage Depot location in Evergreen Park. You already know the stats – it’s shaping up to be 24,000 square feet of beverage superstore, including a 28 door beer cooler, temperature-controlled rare and fine wine cellar, walk-in humidor and more wine, spirits and beer than the human mind can actually conceive. It isn’t much right now, just a construction zone, but watch for the store to open in late November, and watch this space for more soon.

It’s all going in the former location of Bleeker’s Bowling Lanes. We think it’s cool to preserve the neighborhood landmark. Just wait until you see the space… check out the pics after the jump.

By the way, we’re getting a lot of questions about jobs at the new location. If you’re in the market, be sure to check out our careers page, where you’ll find instructions and a link where you can apply for jobs.

BINNY’S IN DES PLAINES

767 W. Golf Road

Market Place Shopping Center

Twenty years ago, Harold Binstein had a crazy idea… which is sometimes the best kind of idea. He envisioned a beverage superstore. One with plenty of light, big aisles, huge displays, and the very best selection you could find. His idea became a reality on October 11, 1993, when he opened the very first Binny’s Beverage Depot.

The GrapevineToday, 29 stores later and still going strong, Binny’s has grown beyond our wildest dreams. We want to say thank you!

Bob Calamia, now a Binny’s wine buyer, was General Manager at the original Binny’s in Des Plaines. “We didn’t know what to expect when we opened the doors, but it was busy right away with wine customers. It had a huge wine inventory for the suburbs, so people came from all over to shop and explore the selection.”

Much has changed in the last twenty years. Calamia says that though many inexpensive wines have stayed fairly consistent in price, luxury products have increased. “Back in ’93, a bottle of 1986 Chateau Margaux was $90. Now new vintages from good years are over a thousand dollars a bottle.” Yet Binny’s has remained true to its original goal: huge selection, low prices and friendly, helpful service.

Binny’s Rolls a Strike with New Store Location

In the past three months we’ve shared our Lincoln Park Expansion, Glencoe Expansion, and now we’re pleased to announce the opening of a brand new location in…drum roll, please… Evergreen Park!

EvergreenPark_binnys_bleekers

The new location is estimated to be 24,000 square feet and will include a 28 door beer cooler, a temperature controlled wine cellar for fine and rare wines, a walk-in humidor and the widest and best selection of 8,500+ wine, spirits and beer products. Director of Operations for Binny’s, Rick Parenti shared, “The store, like all Binny’s locations, will feature the best, most knowledgeable staff, ready to provide our customers with the highest level of service!”

Bleekers_Binnys

Binny’s will replace Bleeker’s Bowling Lanes, a long standing establishment since the 1950′s.

“We’re revitalizing a beloved neighborhood landmark and introducing Binny’s to a prominent community,” says Michael Binstein, Binny’s owner and CEO. The new location will bring the company’s retail locations to a grand total of 30. That’s right Evergreen Park, get ready to do some major holiday shopping with us!

We’re curious, where would you want to see a Binny’s pop up next?

Biggest Little Binny’s Gets Bigger

9We’re doing it again! We just announced that our Lincoln Park store is expanding. The construction crew is going to be busy, because we’re expanding our Glencoe location is as well.

If you’ve shopped our Binny’s in Glencoe before, you know that it’s on the smaller side. Relative to Binny’s, we mean. With this expansion, Glencoe will grow from about 2400 square feet to a whopping 8400 square feet.

Yes, Glencoe. More beer, more wine, more spirits.

Construction begins in the fall and should finish early next year. Needless to say, we’re excited!

We’re Expanding!

24You heard it right via Shanken News Daily, we’re expanding and boy is it going to be big!

Starting this July, Binny’s Beverage Depot in Lincoln Park (1720 N. Marcey St.) will start its expansion from a measly 33,000 square feet to 50,000 square feet, making it one of the largest beverage superstores in the world. Needless to say, we’re pretty excited about it!
In addition, the Lincoln Park location will also incorporate the notable Lincoln Park Pumping Station including a wine and craft beer bar.

At Binny’s we’re always looking for ways to bring more product to you and to give you a different kind of experience. But of course, it wouldn’t be possible without your committed business, so thank you!

We believe the expansion will be completed by October of this year. *Crosses fingers* But don’t worry, we’ll still be open for you during the construction.

Keep your eyes out for a grand re-opening this fall!
