If you think that French wine and value just don’t go together any more, then you haven’t seen the plethora of wines on sale right now to kick off French Wine Month!
You know it’s a great sale when the wine staffs in our stores really get excited and start tucking away a few bottles for themselves – as they’re putting the sale signs up!
I was in three of our stores today and asked the wine consultants if there were any super deals in this sale. In each store, the same reaction: a rapid-fire response by about 4 people at the same time. Where do we start!?
Values abound in this sale. Here are just a few of the “Super Values” of note:
Ch. Bonnet Rouge 2005 – Everything you want in a Bordeaux from a great vintage. Rich, earthy black currant and plum fruit, cedar and spice notes with great structure and freshness, and right now only $5.99!
Domaine Le Grand Destre 2007 – If you like Rhone reds, you’ll love this little Vin de Pays (“country wine”) from the southern Rhone: Dark, jammy blackberry and ripe plum fruit is layered with pepper, spice, and savory, meaty notes. What a deal @ $4.99!
Pierre Sparr Red Silk – This is Pinot Noir, from Alsace, and it’s HOW MUCH?! It’s classic cooler climate Pinot Noir: dusty red berry and cherry aromas and flavors that gain intensity and follow through to the long, (should I say it?), silky finish. It’s at the head of the class at its regular price of $14.99, but until it’s gone, club members walk away with it for only $4.99.
Run – don’t walk – to your Binny’s for these deals and more. Availability is pretty good right now. They aren’t in all stores and they will sell through quickly!
