Cigar Team Hits the Road: Nicaragua

Our Cigar team recently traveled to Nicaragua for an unforgettable cigar experience with Drew Estates. Our trip started with true Nicaraguan food, which we finished with a Liga Pravada no.9. The roads in Nicaragua are buzzing with car horns, pedestrians and motorcycles. The Drew family shared Ligas, Naturals, Kuba kubas, and Undercrowns on the bumpy ride through mountainous terrains.

Fresh Catches from Ballast Point Brewing Company

Ballast Point Brewing Company

Ballast Point Sea Rose

Ballast Point Sea Rose is a lively new wheat ale that delivers remarkably natural cherry flavor. The finish is pleasantly tart, but not puckering and is accented by hints of sweet baking spice. If you’re looking for something unique and sessionable, this one is a keeper. Yet another delicious fruit beer from

Ballast Point Bonito Blonde

California loves their blondes, and the latest from Ballast Point is a real beauty. A pronounced malty aroma is complemented by a subtle minerality; giving way to a refreshingly smooth body and a satisfying finish. While not quite as sweet, Bonito’s fruity yeastiness and soft malty mouthfeel reminded us of a much requested yet frustratingly unavailable farmhouse ale from Wisconsin.

Cigar of the Month: Black Market Barber Pole

March brings thoughts of green beer, parades, and of course, a barber pole wrapped black market that will make everyone feel Irish. The Filthy Hooligans are back in limited quantities so get them while you can because just like last St. Patricks day these will soon be a distant slightly fuzzy memory.

Confessions of a Mixologist: CHee-Key

This cheeky cocktail is sour and bitter with a sweet finish. It reminds us of a melted Popsicle on a hot summer day. Bartender Angie selected the gin for its key lime and juniper flavors. It’s distilled locally in the heart of Chicago at CH Distillery on Randolph Street, just less than two miles from both our Downtown and South Loop locations.
