Belgian beer importers Vanberg & DeWulf are continuing their series of industry afternoons at the Music Box Theater into the fall. That means more good beer, classic films and industry camaraderie, only now it’s on Mondays.
Again, 2pm matinee screenings each month. Binny’s guys will be on hand, along with reps from Wirtz and Vanberg & Dewulf, to talk beer. And if you fall in love with the samples we’re pouring, all are available at Binny’s every day. The invite extends to anyone in the food and beverage industry, their friends, and others who wouldn’t mind hanging out with such a motley crew on a Monday afternoon.
Check out Music Box Theater’s site for more info about the events and films.

Here’s a great opportunity to enjoy a specially curated dinner paired with world-class wines. It’s at Shaw’s Crab House. I ate there once. It was nice, and I would recommend it. I learned to stop worrying and love oysters.
This dinner features Certified Wine Educator and Hartford Family Winery’s Senior Vice President Thomas Rozner, plus the cooking of Shaw’s Chef Arnulfo Tellez. Binny’s guys will be on hand to talk wine, and of course, collect your wine orders. The full menu:

Which beer are you picking?
Theakston Old Peculier
How does it taste?
Old Ales are all about the malt profile. This one bursts with the flavors of toffee and molasses, and is accented by notes of dates, figs and plums. It finishes with an extremely subtle lactic tartness which helps keep the sweetness in balance.
On a scale from 1-5, how would you rate it and why?
Five. This is the quintessential English Old Ale. After a long hiatus it’s finally back in the US! It’s what the style should be and is an excellent value.
This past weekend, a couple thousand handsome and enthusiastic wine fans joined us for prerecorded music played by a live DJ, amazing weather that we’re totally taking credit for, delicious foods provided by top area restaurants, and of course, the heart-pumping thrill of live horse racing. Thanks to everyone who came out!
Check out these pics of the event – there’s a bunch more after the jump, plus a whole album of pics from the afternoon on this Facebook album. Check it out, and tag all your friends!
We’re looking forward to another great Taste at the Track event in the spring – hope to see you there! By the way, we’re always trying to make this event even better, and we’d love your feedback! Leave a comment here on the Binny’s Blog, or send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Summer is coming to an end this Labor Day weekend, but it seems as if the summer heat is not ready to fade away. Stay cool by mixing up this refreshing cocktail for you and your pals. Trust us, they’ll love it.
3 oz Smirnoff Watermelon
2 oz Watermelon Puree
2 oz Sprite
Mix ingredients and pour over ice. Enjoy with slices of freshly cut watermelon!
When life gives you lemons, make this cocktail.
Seriously, though. It’s sweet, fresh and easy to make for a large group or for just yourself! The Lemon Q Tonic is the perfect amount of extra lemon flavoring and that extra scoop of sugar? Well, that’s just optional. (But we recommend it.)
3 oz Dude Vodka
2 oz Lemon Q Tonic
1/2 Squeezed Lemon
Teaspoon of Sugar
Pour vodka and tonic over ice and stir in sugar. Squeeze the lemon in and enjoy!
