National Root Beer Float Day may only come once a year, but we’ve found multiple reasons to celebrate with this Ultimate Root Beer Float like it’s every day!
1. It’s made with Sprecher Bourbon Barrel Hard Root Beer. When root beer first came around, it was brewed as a light alcohlic beverage. So we were pretty pumped when Sprecher came out with their own version of this 18th century liquid invention.
2. It involves Ice Cream. ANY KIND YOU WANT. (But we prefer Edy’s Vanilla Bean… yum)
3. Drinking anything out of a frosted mug is, well, pretty much amazing.
4. The Root Beer Float Vodka makes it right. Seriously.
5. What else do we have to say?
It’s time to get your scoopers out and start celebrating this tasty tradition rooted all the way back to the 18th century!

Perry Farrell paid a visit to the South Loop Tasting Room at Binny’s. You may know him as founder and frontman of Jane’s Addiction, creator of the trendsetting festival Lollapalooza, or even as his new role, ambassador to premium tequila brand Maestro Dobel Tequila. It couldn’t of been more perfect timing with Lolla weekend upon us!
While talking to excited fans in the tasting room, Farrell mentioned he was scouted as a model while doing his day job and that eventually launched his entertainment career. Any guesses as to what his day job was? We won’t keep you guessing, he worked in liquor distribution. Funny how sometimes your life can come full circle, huh?
“When you’re going to tell your friends about a product, you gotta have belief in it,” said Perry Farrell. “I like drinking Maestro Dobel – It gets me set for creative designery. I savor it at the start and end of every show.” [via businesswire.com]
Looking to spot Farrell this weekend? He dropped a hint. 3pm and Shaun White are your clues. Happy Lollapalooza Weekend! And don’t forget to check out pics from Farrell’s visit on the Binny’s facebook page!
The day has finally come for fans of beer and heavy metal.
Trooper, the collaboration between Iron Maiden and Robinsons Brewery, will begin hitting our stores next week. Here is how the beer is being described:
“Malt flavours and citric notes from a unique blend of Bobec, Goldings and Cascade hopes dominate this deep golden ale with a subtle hint of lemon. Alc. 4.7% Vol. 500ml bottle.”
Given Iron Maiden’s reputation as one of the most hardcore metal bands of all time, we were expecting an ale with some pretty extreme ingredients. It looks like the collaboration will be more on the traditional side though. Whatever the case, we can’t wait to give it a shot!
