Admit it: you thought the Mexican Independence Day was Cinco de Mayo, didn’t you? Not so, compadre! May 5th was the day the French were defeated in Mexico, but Mexican independence is celebrated around September 16th, the anniversary of the Grito de Dolores. The more you know.
To celebrate this auspicious occasion, Grupo Modelo is throwin’ a bar crawl, and the Binny’s South Loop Tasting Room is stop numero uno. Join us at this free event for Modelo and Victoria on tap, great food and maybe some free prizes, too.
Everybody will meet up and hang out at Binny’s for a while before heading out for a full-blown pub crawl. We aren’t certain on the rest of the stops, but it’s going to be a heck of a night. A fiesta, if you will.
Fall seasonal beers have been steadily rolling into our stores over the past few weeks, and will continue to do so throughout September and October. We have recently added a nifty link on our website where you can sort through all of our available fall seasonal beers. Click here to check them out! Be sure to click on “Check Availability” to see if your local Binny’s has your favorite autumn beers in stock.
Here’s your chance to meet Windell Middlebrooks. You know, the famous High Life delivery guy with a tendency to get all huffy when he sees an eleven dollar burger so then he takes all their High Life away? Yeah. He’s coming to Binny’s.
Our really big Taste at the Track tasting at Arlington Park is fast approaching! We’ll be at Arlington Park on Saturday, September 8th from 1-5p tasting over 400 wines. Tickets are on sale now exclusively at the Arlington Park website. The number of available tickets is limited, so grab yours soon before they sell out.
We received several requests for the list of wines. Check it out right here. It’s our whole print layout file, and it’s big, so you might want to right click on the link and go to “Save As.” Use this file to find the most exciting wines that you’ll want to taste first. We always suggest not trying to taste everything, but plan ahead and find some favorites so you don’t miss the good stuff!
There’s going to be so much to do! We can’t wait to see all the delicious food offerings from our restaurant partners: Lee & Eddie’s, Shaw’s Crab House, Ra Sushi, Redstone American Grill and Tokio Pub. Also, here is the schedule of events for the day:
1:00 – 5:00 Prom Band playing live
1:00 First Race Post Time
1:30 A Master Sommelier talks Sparkling Wine
2:00 Wagering 101 with Race Analysis by Joe Kristufek
3:00 Chef Demo presented by RA Sushi
4:00 A Master Sommelier talks Napa Valley
We hope you join us for an afternoon of wine, food, music, horses and more. This should be our best Taste at the Track yet – see you there!
The upcoming Binny’s in Bloomington now looks a little more like a Binny’s. Construction crews have been hard at work erecting a facade which, seen from Veterans Parkway, gives the building the familiar feel of Binny’s Beverage Depot. We can’t wait to get a logo up on that wall!
We’re just a couple short months away from a grand opening. Still shooting for a mid-October opening in Bloomington. And maybe we can use your help. For employment info, send an email to email@example.com with your resume or CV.
But hey, we don’t expect you to judge this book by its cover. We hope to see you inside as soon as we open the doors! Watch for more soon….
Now available exclusively at Binny’s is a series of beers called Barrel Trolley. Priced at $5.99 per six-pack and encompassing five different beer styles, some are hailing the Barrel Trolley line of beers as the most economical craft beers found in our stores. Below are some tasting notes on the new to Binny’s brews:
“Pale, crystal, and caramel Malts inspire a sublime flavor profile in this supremely hopped IPA. An ideal mixture of four hops creates a distinguishing spicy aroma and long, hoppy finish.” Brewed with CTZ, Chinook, Willamette, and Golding hops.
Nut Brown Ale
“A hint of hazelnut, caramel and chocolate malt intertwine with the flowery Willamette hops to produce this round-bodied ale.” Brewed with natural hazelnut flavors.
“Three types of hops combine for a complex citrus hop aroma with deep flavor and a long crisp finish.” Brewed with Cascade, Amarillo, and Columbus hops.
“Bright flavors of orange balanced by subtly spicy coriander make this unfiltered Belgian White Ale a reason to celebrate.” Brewed with coriander, sweet orange, and bitter orange.
“Medium-bodied with a complex malt flavor, this Amber Ale exhibits a subdued malt character elevated by a subtle citrus aroma.” Brewed with honey.
Brewery Ommegangs’ Scythe & Sickle is a series of firsts. It is Ommegangs’ first true seasonal, brewed specifically to enjoy during autumn. It is also Ommegangs’ first special release to be featured in 4-packs. Lastly, Scythe and & Sickle is the first beer to be released featuring Ommegangs’ new packaging. By the end of the year, all of you favorite Ommegang beers will be available with sharp looking new packaging.
What’s in the bottle? Celebrating the grain harvest, Scythe & Sickle is brewed with barley, wheat, oats, and rye. It is balanced, toasty, and has a subtle hop presence that nicely balances its array of grains. Delicious and classic Ommegang Belgian yeast flavors take center stage in this 5.8% ABV brew.
Scythe & Sickle aims to bring new life to a fall seasonal beer portfolio that Ommegang views as as overflowing with Oktoberfest and Pumpkin beers.
There’s just something about those two colors. Aren’t they great?
So we just printed up a limited run of Binny’s Beverage Depot T-Shirts. Check ‘em out. There’s a big Binny’s logo on the front, and the back bears our motto, “If you can’t find it at Binny’s, it’s probably not worth drinking.” All done up in orange & navy. Classy.
You can get your hands on one of these beautiful pieces of apparel for just $9.99. Chicago area people, we love you, but these are only available at the Binny’s in Champaign.
But wait – we want this shirt on your back so bad that we’re going to give 100 of them away. Here’s all you have to do: Come into the Champaign Binny’s this Saturday, the 25th. Make a purchase. When you are at the register, say our tagline, “If you can’t find it at Binny’s, it’s probably not worth drinking.”
That’s it. Tell your friends.
We’re limiting this promotion to 100300 free shirts, limit 1 per person. After that, you’ll just have to shell out ten bucks to get one. Of course, these shirts are only available to people 21 years of age or older.
Update: Due to the huge response so far, we’re increasing the number of free shirts we’re giving away from 100 to 300. That still won’t be enough, so come in early!
