"The 2005 Rosso del Conte has put on significant weight since I first reviewed it in The Wine Advocate last year. The 2005 has grown into a big, generous red packed with perfumed fruit. Stylistically it is a wine that relies on sheer power over subtlety; but the balance and sense of harmony are nevertheless superb."

"Light red. Red berries and spicecake on the nose. Light-bodied and tight, offering zesty redcurrant and strawberry flavors that show a slightly rigid edge. Finishes with good clarity and cut, leaving a spicy note behind."

"Smells effusively and exotically of ripe quince, mango, litchi, and pineapple, along with Chartreuse-like suggestions of distilled floral and herbal essences. In contrast with the corresponding Haut-Lieu, here the acidity is largely integrated and keeps its powder dry for successfully holding at bay the finishing onslaught of residual sugar. Notes of marzipan and peach preserves further add to the almost garish array of nearly over-ripe fruits."
